Race/Fire Suit Discussion
true that most people with close face helmet drive with the face shield up, but having it there give you the opportunity to close it if a fire does break out.
i also like the tinted shield.

You need a Fire extinguisher system. Also the last thing you will do case of fire, closing the shield when you try to get out of the car. There is every sec counts. With a same time you can open your seat belts, i think that is more important and so on.
I wear a closed face forced air helmet. I wanted the forced air to allow me to keep the visor shut when it's hot. At Pocono long course in July I was following a Porsche GT3 cup car at 130+mph. It kicked up a piece of asphalt the size of your fist and hit my windshield, just right of my face. It was the start of the race and I stupidly left the visor open! As soon as the windshield smashed I realized it and slapped the visor shut. Too late had the rock been traveling a little faster and a bit left. The windshield was punched in almost an inch into the car.
How you like the forced vent helmet? Sadly we cant run it, not buy the rules just very impractical for us.
Well, I tried on a Sparco XLight 300, Sparco Pro Cup, and Sparco Sprint. Three different price levels and very noticeable three different levels of comfort. Each more $$$ suit was thinner and lighter than the last. It was good to be able to get a perspective on what to expect. I also found out that I am fat.
Size 64 in the Sparco suits was too tight. Size 66 was much better. That's as big as they make without having one custom made.
After all that I ended up buying a Bell "Team Bell" suit brand new off eBay for $215. Just like this one :

I got black/white in XXXL. It was a $900 suit before being discontinued. I figure if I don't like it or it doesn't fit I'll sell it and order a nice Sparco Technica or Profy . . .
