JGTC & SpeedVision
JGTC & SpeedVision
Flipping around at 1:30am i came upon JGTC races!!!!!!!!!!
I almost fell outta my chair!!!!!!!!!!
SpeedVision coverage has been so weak on this point its not even funny (more on this later).
Watching over the condensed 30-minute highlight packages for the Japan GT Championship, I can't help but think how awesome it would be to get the whole races in duration. Sure they only pluck the best parts of the races, but every second they were switching to a pass, crash, or hard racing between 2-5 cars in a pack, and the finishes often come down to the wire. Plus the cars are great!
I know the 30-minute episodes are not produced by Speed, but I'm sure it would be very possible for Speed to get the full length races... just a matter of being willing to make room in the time-slot.
I'm extremely happy we get great Speed WC, ALMS and V8 Supercar coverage, but you have to admit JGTC provides some of the best racing in the world. And you can never have too much great racing, right?
Half hour highlight reels are just really cramped, especially in mixed class racing where so much is always going on.
If there is a JGTC race at Laguna Seca next year, and the event proves to be successful, then Speed must consider increasing their coverage of this fine series. So im hoping this event is a sucess.
Now for a little rant on speedvision or as i like to call it NascarVision.
7 outta 10 times when you flip it on its Nascar programming, which apparently is the most popular sport in America. Nothing is more boring to me then Nascar!!! It has gotten better. Till about 4 months ago 10 outta 10 times when you flip it on its Nascar programming. Since then they have added 2wheelTuesday (2hrs motorcycle coverage), some classic car coverage and some late night JGTC coverage as i found out last night. Pretty good not to mention they are the only ones in the US to cover the WRC (season over now tho).
Cliffnotes version:
JGTC coverage is finally appearing
Its small 30min recaps
Its only on once and a while
SpeedVision has improved
Has a little more improving to go.
Ohh yeah, last nights was the 2003 JGTC Round3
SUGO GT CHAMPIONSHIP. Supra's Finished 1 & 2 in Gt500. MR-2 Finished 1st in GT300.
And cmon, who would object to this racing replacing some Nascar coverage? Not me!

Heey, so someone else saw this? I saw it last night to! Some awful weather they were racing in with some extreme fog and rain. Awesome to see all these great machines you only read and shots of and voila! You got to see them racing! Almost felt as if I should've had the PS2 remote in my hand.
Speedvision is going to start covering all the JGTC races starting next season. There is also rumers of a race being held in the states.
Good video preview on www.racingflix.com (when it comes back up)

If anyone finds out about the schedule for these shows (even repeats), please post the dates and times. I'll look it up on SpeedChannel.com, too, but a lot of times this type of show just pops up. I can't wait to watch!! I bet drifting shows are not far behind.
Chris watch Speedvision/Speedchannel over the weekends usually early morning or late at night they have shows that cater for the import scene...although they are a bit ricey...like those two dumb *** twins that dont know **** about cars...but i did watch recaps of the RS*R Drift Competition that was held this year on Speed Vision.
if anyone can get the air times for the JGTC races please let me know...and whats this you guys are talking about with JGTC coming here to the states???? if that ever does happen i'll be sure to be the first to get a ticket...i dont care where the f* it is here in the US im definately going to go...Drift, DTM and JGTC races are the best to watch!

DTM = German NASCAR (of course, if NASCAR, had right turns, high-tech cars, etc. etc.).
To these guys, "rubbin is racin", too.
I love the full coverage they give DTM races. I just wish those cars were like the mid-90s cars with sub F1 engines (rev to 16,000), awd, active suspensions, abs, etc. Completely sick!!!!
Thanks for the tip about late night - I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.

They also show SWC Races. = fun touring car races.
Chris: this is what Tivo is for, just set it to record "Auto Racing" on Speed, then delete all the Nascar Crap it records and you will find the good stuff.
