SOLO front bumper damage
Hey guys,
I can't be the only one who hits cones - lots of cones. Anyone come up with a clever way to keep the lower bumper facia on the car? I RX'd my evo for a season and most of the OE clips are broken. I siliconed it and that lasted a while then I put a few rivots in the ends. That also works for awhile. I'm thinking of shaving some styro and using it to support the ends??
Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately, the mounting tabs on the lip itself are just not beefy enough to hold up to the abuse of autocross cones. Those tabs are definitely the weak point so unless you can reinforce them somehow it'll just be a matter of time until you'll need a new lip. I took the opportunity to go with a CF replacement lip.

I wonder if you were there the last time you saw me AutoX my car Kevin, my front lip is sitting in the back seat still and I had to stop by Riverton Mitsubishi to get new plastic tabs in order to re-install my RF wheel well...
I think I'm going to go by Home Depot sometime soon and see if I can't come up with some heavy duty tabs and screws etc. in order to keep that bad boy on there.

I had broken clips off that lip many times in the past and have JB Welded it back on equally as many times. It doesn't help that I run without the undertray. So last weekend, I ate a giant cone and it completely broke off so I had to head back on the battlefield with green stitches
I finally took it to the body shop, where they repainted and used some super duper glue. FYI, the year I won overall champion was also the year I won 'conehead of the year award' for hitting the most cones . Gotta push the lines' limits!

Not hit cones? Thats funny, I have a hard enough time going fast!
I found some 3/4" styro used for roofing and shaved a piece to support the last 12" on either side. Used some adhesive made for poly/ plastic. I think it will hold up for a while.
336 - that was at eagle one right?
Thanks for all the comments.

Yup. Though at this point in time I think I'm going to just go without a lip for now - too many other things to straighten out first.

I've only put 5 events on my car so far, but I'm sure the cone damage is coming

Learn to stay off the cones!
I 're-do' my bumper/lip about once a year in the off season, unless i really hit one hard and have to take care of it sooner. as long as you still have all the pieces its pretty easy to do, all you need is some 2 stage plastic epoxy from perematex (available at most autoparts stores) and a little time.
I've also found having the stock undertray & fender liners installed helps with the impact. without those two things the bumper/lip will flex and too much flexing will break the tabs off.
