Welded, I don't believe in running a bolt-in cage unless you have a death wish.

Edit: Also my cage was constructed without the halo bars/front hoop because the car is driven on the street without a helmet. The base plates were specifically designed to allow the front hoop to be added when the car is no longer street driven. I'll take some better pictures of the cage soon.

If you see a silver 9 MR at a local autox say hi. It's probably me Not too many Evos in the local autox scene anymore... outnumbered badly by Subarus.

Hehe, at the last PCA autox I went to everyone thought my car WAS a Subaru. My car is debadged and nobody knows better, but I was kind of surprised when they announced me as driving a black WRX.

Did you ever figure out your wheel and tire combo?

I decided that 2012 I'm going to keep running my 18x9'' Volks with R888s. I'll still be doing mostly HPDE this year so I'm not as worried about it. By next season for sure I am going to go to Hoosiers and need to figure out what wheel/tire combo I can cram under the car. I really want at least 9.5'' wide rims, but I'm not enthusiastic about getting wider fenders. On most cars (yours is an exception) I haven't liked how the Voltex pieces look, and have heard nightmares about fitment, let alone the $$$. It's a lot of cash to run an extra 0.5'' of tire.

You are running 9.5'' all around right? 275/35/18? Is that with Hoosier A6s or R6s? You also have Voltex front fenders and stock rear? How much did the front fenders run ya if you don't mind me asking.

You can space out the stock front fenders.

You like your R888's? I absolutely hated them on the evo.

I run Nitto Nt-01's with Voltex front and rear fenders. I did just run Voltex fronts at one point when I ran the NT-03's (18X9.5 +40 w/275's) Front fenders were $1100ish. There are much cheaper alternatives though and my experience with Voltex is that fitment is dead on.

I haven't run the R888s yet... I've actually been HPDEing on Star Specs, but want to step up to something stickier. I've heard good things from friends who run them though. I was reluctant to go to any Nitto tires as their original summer tire (NT555) was one of the single worst tires I've ever experienced. I could make better tires out of cardboard and duct tape.

As far as body work, I feel like if I go for the fenders I have to do skirts as well... so front/rear/side + new rims. I will definitely see where things are next year. I haven't built the motor yet either which is going to cost another $7-10k including a new clutch and E85 capable fuel system.
