I would think the reason they did it was more to promote the understeer under power as the car does with the plates stacked incorrectly rather than the noise. The noise 'issue' can be combated with friction modifier if you wish, granted that also reduces the effectiveness of the swap.

right, could be that, either, or both, whatever the case may be I think it's strictly the USDM 8/9s. I've heard Ford does this with their Mustangs as well but I've got no solid evidence of that.

I didn't realize it was in the service manual. If it is, then I would agree it's legal. Should help significantly.

Yep in the 2006 manual volume 1 section 27-49 shows it stacked in the correct manner

Get your Bilsteins revalved before you do anything.

You are lucky to have an MR and the stock Bilsteins. There are no off-the-shelf strut replacements for the Evo X but at least you have the opportunity to send them out for a revalve.

The Evo X GSR cannot legally use the Bilsteins(without modifications) in Stock since the total extended lengths of the KYBs vs. Bilsteins differ by much more than the allowed 1"(it's almost a 2" difference).

So GSR owners are kind of screwed in that regard.

On my SE, I ran 295 A6s last year on 18" x 8.5" PF01s with only a muffer-less catback and alignment for mods. I finished 1 to 1.3 seconds per day behind the Kozlaks at the NJ Pro and Toledo Tour to put things in perspective.

I did add a modified Hotchkis front sway bar in August but well after the A6s were used up.

I'll be supporting the new Street Tire Stock index class for 2012 and will finally be on revalved Bilsteins as well as 275 RS3s.

I was hoping to keep the stock Bilsteins as is,and buy a set of adjustable ones. The car has to do daily driving duty as well.

Do the 295 A6's work without rolling the fenders?

So would you advise changing front or rear bar?

No fender rolling required for the 295s.

I'm not convinced that a larger rear bar is more beneficial than a larger front one on Hoosiers with the stock springs.

You could look into a set of AST's also. To make them legal, you can either weld or silicone a perch that is the legal height. I know miata and S2K guys have done this.

Revalved Bilstein's would be good too. But without adjustments, it would be shooting in the dark to guess what valving you need.

I was met with some resistance talking to Terry about getting a set built. He basically nay-sayed the entire idea because of their prior trials and tribulations and the fact that the car is undersprung and a porker. It kind of left me cold, so I didn't pursue that route with AST.

The company I am going to use to revalve the Bilsteins at least has some data to work with already from a Bilstein'd Evo X.

I don't suppose they would be interested in doing adjustable shocks would they?

Works for me!

Only things I've changed are Hoosier A6's,set of Performance Friction pads and I down graded to GSR front rotors as my MR ones are out of spec and new ones are too expensive.

I'm even still on stock wheel alignment settings.
