Video of a guy crashing his car while weaving at a DE
Have you guys seen this video - looks like it's a DE in Germany. The driver is trying to get some heat into his tires on a slow lap and ends up in the wall, LMAO!!

Haha. Even though the video may be old, it is a good lesson. I was at an HPDE this weekend supporting a fellow Evo owner and saw tons of mistakes that led to vehicle damage.
There was a C6 Corvette that went off in the 4th turn during the warm up lap and totaled the car. It was made worse by the fact that he had an instructor in the car when he went off.
There was also a Miata in the "experienced" group that spun leaving the paddock in the pit lane! He didn't even make it onto the track before he clipped the pit wall. I found him later that day and made sure he realized how stupid he looked. Haha.

Nice.
I know there's an Evo driver here on the forums that went off on a warmup lap... I'm not going to name names, but I've got it on video somewhere. It happens. I think in his case he had a set of used slicks on and wasn't sure of the amount of grip he was going to get (or lack thereof). It was hilarious (for me) as there was no damage.

Going off-track is an unfortunate part of the sport. Eventually, if you push hard enough, it will happen to you. If you are lucky and keep your head you can minimize/eliminate damage when it does happen. However, doing it on a warmup/parade lap is nothing less than totally hysterical.
I was wondering about the helmet too. So many videos of car reviews etc. floating around with the reviewer driving without a helmet at the track. Top Gear does that a lot too. I think for TV it makes it more personal when you can see the host's face while driving but for a regular DE it's hard to understand why you would't want to protect the melon, LOL! And yeah, if it's a parade lap really, anyone weaving like that is a total dumbass!!
