Super Touring wing

I just received a 68" Kognition wing with the newest mounting hardware. I hope to give it a test at Pocono in July on the long course. I have data from Pocono and Mid Ohio so I can compare speeds from last year. I had been running the APR 200 wing with extensions. The mounting plates and hardware weigh 18lbs. I may be looking for a carbon fiber boot some day!

Kognition is kean on Time Attack but this wing will see severe duty racing wheel to wheel in the NASA ST-2 class. I am sure debris will scratch it, after the first race!

I think you will find that it provides a lot of downforce. And, makes for a great beer shelf when people are hanging around the car.

We need to start a "what's new on your racecar" thread. Since not all of us have a build thread on here.

These are the chassis mounts, does it go thru the rear fenders or the trunk? How do you open the trunk with it mounted? I rigged a chassis mount to my trunk mounted Kognition wing. Just curious as to how it's mounted?

The rear quarter panels will be cut to accept the uprights. This version uses pockets to slide the wing supports into the uprights secured with quick release pins for easier removal. I really appreciate this feature to have easier access to the helmet/shirt coolers and rear Moton suspension. The car needed a proper wing to make use of the ground effects Charlie North (Function First Motorsports) built for the car. I can't wait to go through turn 10 at Watkins Glen with the Kognition wing!

You had better plan on adjusting your front downforce. From the 1 pic you posted above with the GTC200, it does look like you have a pretty aggressive AoA on it - but that Kognition wing will dwarf it and it'll sit about twice as high.

I'm not sure if you read any of the stuff I posted last year on my experience with these 2 exact wings, but it's posted in this same forum.

G/L. Kognition makes a good piece - I've still got mine in my basement awaiting another class bump to TTS/ST2 and ungodly huge front splitter to balance it out.

Lets also make a clarification that we are talking about "NASA Super Touring". There is a Super touring class in the SCCA and the aero rules are much more strict then Super touring with NASA. In fact, I have been discussing aero with Marty and he emailed me last night and stated that the SCCA STU rules require a rear wing to be 6" belowe the top of the roof line. The stock is about 7" below, so you cannot legally run one of these wings. The question is, is it worth even doing a wing that is not much higher then the stock one?

I'd been drooling over these for awhile. It'd be interesting to see the data between a 68 and the 71+ wings as far as downforce/straight line speed on the same track. In for pics once you get it all welded/mounted up.
