EVO Prep for ESP

Hey Everyone. I havent gotten a new copy of the Rule Bock to see what we are allowd to do for the ESP class as far as mods.
Currently I am running

HKS RS Intake
HKS Down Pipe
HKS Cat Back Exhaust
Greddy Oil Catch Can
and Falken Azenis Sport 245 45 17 tires on factory wheels

I'm thinking of upgrading to the Greddy FMIC http://radicalride.com/Merchant2/mer...ry_Code=IC-EVO

and maybe a clutch line

With what I have listed will I be ok in the ESP class?

Can anyone make a list from the rule book of exactly what you are allowd to have?

Thanks for the help!

Tom

oh yea does anyone have any reccommendations on brake pads for the stock EVO brakes? I actually called Hawk and they do not list any that are specifically for the EVO as well as EBC and Cobalt. EBC has the "Green Stuff" pads comming out in 30 or 40 days.

I just need some suggestions on what would be a good auto x pad that is still daily drivable that wont be too hard for the stock rotors.

check out http://moutons.org/sccasolo/Rules/sp.html

As for the brake pads, you can try www.stoptech.com

I would ditch the Azenis tires and go with R compounds like a 255/40/17 Kumo victoracers or hoosiers in the same size.

"Emission control devices may be modified or removed. This permits the oil filler cap to be modified or substituted, but does not allow valve covers or cam covers to be altered to install a breather or for any other purpose. "

Does that mean I cant use an oil catch can? It really isnt a breather...it is still beind "dumped" back into the factory place...it is just basically that there is a can in line to catch any oil "cough".

Hmm...

Man those are super expensive pads!!! How are they for day to day driving? I just dont want them to tear up my stock rotor.

The FMIC is permitted only if it can be installed without any changes to the bumper, bumper support, frame, etc.

In other words, it must be a "true" bolt-on FMIC.

The oil catch can is legal in stock class as long as it does not interfere with the normal operation of the PVC valve.

your good to go.

13.10.G Engine and drive train
The installation of water expansion tanks is allowed. The installation of oil catch tanks is allowed provided the PCV system is not altered.

Cool...that helps!

I also forgot to ask what are all of you running for suspension? I am kind of leery of changing out the stock suspension, because it is already so good! I am affraid it wont be as good as stock if I modify it. A lot of time was spent designing and testing it.

Any suggestions or reccommendations?

RIDE1: If you're going ESP ditch the stock suspension and get coilovers. Look at the difference between a stock suspension on ESP (1)80 and JIC coilovers on ESP97:

http://www.lvrscca.org/photo4/natl_t.../a_f/index.htm

The coilovers will let you lower your car, lowering the CG. You can also run higher spring rates and mess with the damping, which will let you get rid of a lot of roll and tune the handling characteristics.

Per rule 14.8.A you can only replace with suspension of the same type. But the stock is already a coilover setup... it's just not what most people think of when they say "coilovers." You have a coil spring over a shock/strut body.

So buying a set of adjustable coilovers is okay because you retain the same suspension type and it mounts to the stock locations.

Additionally, rule 14.8.A says perches originally on the strut/shock body are allowed to be changed/altered and their positions moved. This is exactly what adjustable coilovers do.

It's not creative, it's just the rules. Those pics are from the Phoenix National Tour event. SS RX7 r2 (ESP 97) has JIC coilovers on his car and that's ESP legal, no problem.

cool! I will have to go that route! I think I am going to do either the Tein Type Flex Coilovers or the Cusco Coilovers.
