5 speed here, or else I would.

I'll get it fixed, or I will just show up without reverse and hope people will help me push if need be!

^ you can always shut the car off, put it in reverse, then start the car with the clutch in

That's not the problem!

The shifter goes into reverse fine, but when it's in reverse it won't move at all on any incline. Reverse works on flat ground, and that's it. Seems like something is not fully catching.

^ that's odd, it's either in gear or not in gear, or it's grinding. make a post in the Drivetrain section to see if this happened to someone else before.

I've heard of something like this happening in the mustang world. It had to do with a type of clutch that would hold wonderfully in any forward gear, but slip in reverse. People would have the discs replaced and the issue went away. What clutch are you using?

No way that's a clutch problem. If all forward gears are working properly, that's mechanically impossible!

I said the same thing. A friction surface is a friction surface, shouldn't matter the direction of rotation. However in those instances it was exactly the case. Whatever the culprit is here, the trans will have to come off which means a chance to look at the clutch also. I'm still curious to know which clutch it is.

The friction surface never changes direction. Reverse gear is run on a countershaft which probably has a bad bearing that causes the shaft to shift under heavy load(hill) causing the slipping or a bad shift fork causing it not to engage properly. There could be a couple of scenarios, none of which include the clutch.

It's an Exedy Twin disc.

I posted in the Drivetrain section, but no responses yet.
