In car from WTA 2011 in Evo 7

I thought some of you may be interested in this?

This is an incar video of me driving to 5th in open class in WTA 2011, I was very lucky to be able to have the opportunity to drive someone elses car which was amazing.

The car has since undergone a lot of improvements and is getting better all the time, WTA was the first outing for the car and uncovered a lot of shortcomings.

enjoy

Good video. What times were you doing?

I was at WTA 2012, it's interesting to see how quick the Evo platform can go, turn one looked pretty scary from the roof of the pits. I've done some mid 1.40's on a superbike and I've always thought that cars look quicker doing similar times, maybe because of their size. Cheers

I ran a 1:37 which was on the old layout, a few small changes to the track this year ,ade it a touch faster.

one of the things that holds the car back a bit imo is the lack of ACD, but for me its like the evo 2 so its ok, but ultimatley could be faster with ACD I guess.

Do you race also, or do you just compete in TA?

Im curious about club racing in Australia. In case you guys use different wording can you be a little more specific? Sorry if this sounds funny:

- For instance, there are 2 clubs ive ran with, NASA and SCCA. NASA provides a combination of events in 1 weekend, HPDE (high performance driving event), TT (time trial), and racing. SCCA mostly focuses on racing, but some regions have some HPDE and TT groups also. There are other clubs like NASA and SCCA but those are 2 of the more popular ones.
- What organizations do you guys have there, and are they set up like NASA and SCCA? And of all the race classes do you know which ones are the most competitive?
- When you say sprints, do you mean relatively short races? A sprint race for us is typically around 30min to 1hr. The longer races are enduros, short for endurance.

What we would call a sprint is similar in many ways to TA.
There are multiple cars on the track at the same time, usually 15 minute sessions, aiming for the fastest lap time. Most entry level events here are like that. (far less open rules than TA though)

There are other formats such as 2 lap sprints, forst from a standing start, the next a flyer, then the times are combined.

Door to door racing here requires a higer level of licence, the two main motorsport bodies are CAMS and AASA with cams being the bigger of the two

most events here are just 1 day

What i do here is what you call door to door racing. Based off the 2 racing organizations you mentioned, CAMS and AASA, do you know which classes are the most competitive? To give you an example, over here it is said that the most competitive class in the nation is SM, short for spec miata. There are a few other spec classes that are very competitive, but thats one example.

CAMS run most of the major/national motorsport events in australia, v8 supercars, gt cars etc...
AASA run more state level events, they have differing rules so a car thats eligable for AASA may not be for cams.
They are both quite competitive at state level

Racing is much more affordable here in the USA. Tire prices alone are 2 to 3 times as much in Australia. Event registrations cost are way too much there. On the other hand their cage specifications are much less stringent. Good for lighter, faster times but less safe. How much hp does the 7 have? I like running my 350whp and try to squeeze everything out of the car- power corrupts! Although I was told 600hp is just right in a Evo 8/9!!

The cams cage rules are fairly strict, very similar to fia standards, aasa is a little looser, club/state level even less. the cage in the 7 is built to cams national level so it was safety over weight in this case (I have done the same in my evo 2, see my build thread if interested)

The 7 was running around 470whp at wta, its now up around 550whp
