SCCA Pro Solo - What's It Like?
Anyone have any experience with SCCA Pro Solo? If so, can you share some info?
I tried autocross several years ago when I got my Evo VIII, and did not care for it at all. ******** cones, 6 hours on the Texas sun for 4 minutes of track time, etc.
I've read a little bit about Pro Solo and it sounds like you get to do more driving than at a typical autocross. But does it have that same "if you drive, you work" stuff that autocross has?

Pro Solos are a 2-day format.
-8 runs/work 2x on day 1
-4 runs/work 1x on day 2
-More runs if you make the Bonus or Super Challenge.
IMO, Pros are the most fun and challenging events on the calendar. Keep in mind that Solo exists because it is comprised of volunteers who work so everyone can play, and keep entry costs low by not requiring paid help.

You'll get way more runs than a typical autocross, but yes you have to work some sort of work assignment both days (twice Sat, once Sun and more if you make the Challenge/Bonus). Work assignments at a Pro should be around 1.5 hours each.
The adrenalin and intensity is way more than a regular autocross....well worth it!

This is the best form of autox, imo. You can't beat the adrenaline rush of the back to back runs and drag launches. The format has been covered above, here's a couple vids that might help.
SCCA Vid on Pro Solo:
Vid from DC Pro Last year where my co-driver won the super challenge. You can see the bracket racing style format on the super challenge runs. Regular class competition keeps you matched up with your class competitors and you launch at the same time.
