365-racing saves the day

I had an unfortunate run in with a Corvette this weekend at a NASA event this past weekend. I run an Evo X MR in TT3 and on the final session of the day on Saturday, I took my father-in-law out with me to just have fun. A Z06 was on grid behind me, and I told him I'd point him by after the first lap as a courtesy, since I wasn't going for a time. We were told explicitly earlier in the day that there was to be no passing until the 2nd hot lap, all day.
At turn 8 on the south course during the 1st hot lap the Corvette, for reasons still unclear to me, the Vette decided to pass me on the inside. Instead of passing, he ended up torpedoing me on the my right rear tire, sending me spinning off track.
To make a long story short, my car seemingly has almost no damage....save for a few dings and a bent-to-**** rim and a screwed rear alignment.
Andy Smedegard and the guys from 365racing were there and immediately came over to help once I got my car back to my trailer. Though the car seemed undamaged, the alignment was way off as a result of the impact. Using some mystical alignment tool and two tape measures, these Evo-Warlocks MacGyver'd the rear alignment back to spec. It was glorious, and unbelievable. I was able to drive all day Sunday and the car felt totally normal.
They guys at 365racing saved my weekend. I can't thank them enough. Its impressive that in between dominating virtually everyone in TT, they find the time to help out a fellow Evo driver with their expertise. Truly a great group.

For my daughter. The other side has Lightning McQueen for my son. My youngest daughter is too young to have a favorite princess, but once she does she'll go on as well! It makes them feel more a part of the this crazy hobby their dad devotes so much time to

Indeed. He's a nice guy, just made a mistake. The whole thing could have been a lot worse.

Sorry to hear about the incident however its great to hear about fellow evo enthusiasts helping each other out! Hopefully your car is indeed in good shape after its all said and done.

Andy- can you comment on your tools that you use for alignments? It appears to be this product: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CASTER-CAMBER-TOE-Digital-Gauge-Do-it-Yourself-Wheel-Alignment-/321149519983?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash=item4ac600c86f&vxp=mtr
There is a good thread on this topic here that I think it would be great if you provided some feedback https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ment-kits.html

Despite rare incidents like this everybody always seems help out others when it's needed at the track. Andy and the 365racing guys really came through for morricus. It's pretty remarkable that the only damage thus far seems to the wheel, which was a Konig Milligram. Both morricus and I wondered how strong and durable the Milligrams would be but I think we got our answer as that wheel took a hell of a shot with out cracking or coming apart.

I was impressed with that rim. it took a good hit.

My thoughts on the QuikTrik alignment kit:

Price- great price and probably the cheapest self alignment kit out there.

Quality- meh, 6/10. everything feels and seems cheap. I feel its something I could have built with parts from Home Depot. it does all seem to work just fine.

Would I use this for my alignments and only this? No. This will only give Toe in relation to the opposite side wheel. No way to really measure thrust angle. it works great for the track and small adjustments if needed, but to do a full real alignment, you are better off getting the car on a proper alignment rack. And unless you have turn plates, its tough to make adjustments as you need to roll the car on the ground to release any tire/suspension bind.

Thanks for your feedback. Your findings are right in line with what I have found and unfortunately in order to determine individual toe I would need to use some sort of reference point.

If you dont mind I would love to share your feedback in that thread I linked as personal experience tops speculation.

Sorry to derail this thread; I just couldnt resist reaching out.
