SCCA Runoffs 2013!
SCCA Runoffs 2013!
Hi Everyone,
I wanted to share some pictures from the SCCA Runoffs this year. I have to say that I am definitely hooked. I spent most of my time following Marty and CJ everywhere, and listening to absolutely everything these guys had to say. If you own an Evo, and are looking into club racing, there is no better source of expertise than these 2 gentlemen.
Marty and CJ, thank you so very much for everything! Can't wait to see you guys at the next event!

Only 1 Evo in the whole event.
. It seems that the EVO's are way off pace for the new T2?
I am friends with Kurt R who was sitting on Pole in the T2 race and came in 2nd place in his first runoffs ever. In fact, he only started racing last year!

Kurt R, ran a great race. Kyle was actually on the 2nd spot until his car started having problems on the last 2 laps, and then he crashed fighting for the 3rd spot.
I watched the whole race. I think the 2 vette's that wrecked were the 4&5 place fighting for 3rd place after the other vette was dumping oil everywhere. Kurt was right on his tail being smoke screened for 3/4 of s lap. He said oil was just splattering on his windshield. I thought he pretty much ended up barely making it around. The 2 that wrecked just got caught up trying to muscle each other down the straight. (kind of a dumb move IMO, maybe for the win but not 3rd)
Nice of them to make another spec vette class!

I watched the FB, FP and T2 race. Its nice living about 30 min from RA.
Our local SCCA region had some driver's i was watching and then my buddy was in the T2 race, so that's what i was interested in seeing. In fact, our local guy L. Loshak won 2 National titles this past weekend. (He was one of the drivers of the AMS TA1 evo long ago).

I was able to watch GT2/GT3, AS, and T2.
GT2/GT3 was pretty steady, as it started it ended. Joe Koeing BMW E46 crashed pretty hard.
AS was a great to race to watch, these guys go at each other pretty hard.
Both CJ and the Subby came in last, they were really out classed by the vettes and mustangs. The BMW e92s were a no show, because of the same reason.

Great Pictures! Glad you came out to watch, sorry I couldn't put on a great show, but we were out gunned a bit this year
We lost this season in the 'rules shed' before it even started.

I ended up 13th and thought I'd at least have a battle with John in the Subie, but for some reason I passed him in turn 3 on the first lap and really didn't see him again until after the race.
You know things aren't gonna go your way when at registration the lead Tech Official asks, "You don't really have a shot this year do you?". Word had made it around that the mighty Evo had been screwed by the rules this year. I would have joined Marty and sat this one out, but the past few years I've been forced to watch from the pit wall (wreck and then a blown motor last year and the engine fire the year before), so I went there for the most expensive test -n- tune session I've ever participated in. It was a great social event and I'm glad I got to hang out with Marty, Tim, Chris and Jorge.
We will lobby the rule makers and see what we can come up with for next season... although the Runoffs are at Laguna Seca next year and even with an invitation I'm not sure about making the trek.
A huge thanks to all my Friends and Sponsors as without all your help I wouldn't have been able to participate in the 50th Anniversary of the SCCA Runoffs.
