ESP Evos Come Back at Norton Pro Solo!
ESP Evos Come Back at Norton Pro Solo!
Evo sweep the top 4 spots! The standing start and the slick surface helped us beat the same Camaros that beat us last week. 3 of us made the challenge rounds also. Congrats to Navid Kahangi for the class win. More info later…from Joe!

According to the Pro Solo website results, 1-3, 5th and I think 9th. Are you competing in the entire National Tour or just close to home? I'll be at the Toledo or Northern Michigan event (AS).
Which ProSolo website?
I see a sweep of the top four positions in ESP: http://www.scca.org/amateur/solo2/pr...o/results.html

That's odd, yesterday at around 7pm it said 1-3, 5th and 9th. Good, glad it changed or glad I looked at it wrong (several times). I even posted yesterday about the results, dam, my fault.
What was the weather like?
I am wondering how Dave Schotz recorded a better time in an FS Mustang (bumped to BS) over Steve Equinas Camaro. Also interesting is that Kahangi's time would have put him first in BSP over the defending National champion?
Good job to those drivers!

Weather was hot and dry, BUT Norton's surface is super slick. Most of us locals run a semi-rain set up for suspension. Schotz is on fire big time, but his softer springs may have helped him.
I don't think many folks run opposite coast Tours as they are not for points(unless they fly out and codrive a friend's car). Pro Solos are for points, so many will do 3 events to qualify for the championship.

Finally...

Good seeing you guys again and I hope to make either the Atwater tour or Pro. BTW what are the typical courses like there and what kind of surface does it have? Hopefully it will be cooler, at least you won't be able to see the air there

.
Thanks guys
I was going to do a blow-by-blow recount of the weekend, but I have no time and I don't think anyone really cares
I still haven't found time to finish my write-ups of the previous 2 events, but San Diego is probably worth forgetting
KC - I never did meet you, but would have liked to. Maybe at another event soon. Sorry to hear you are dropping ProSolo for a while. Come back soon!
Richard - great racing with you. Atwater is a true concrete surface. Should be a long, fast course. The air in the Central Valley isn't so great when the temps go up and it will likely be pretty warm during the event. Yet another reason to pray for rain!
We blew the clutch to smithereens. I was up till 4:30am last night removing it!!!
What a royal PITA!!!! I cannot believe no one on this board has done a decent write-up. Anyways, with 9500 miles on the car, one side of the clutch was worn to the grooves, the other side wasn't much better. Both sides had glazed over and hot spots were visible on the flywheel. Did I mention that after the ProSolo was over and the clutch gone, that I was forced to drive my car back to SF? It was a long, slow ride.
FS - Feeling better? Hope so. We'll have to talk more about the coilover clunking. Supposedly it is the studs moving laterally in the holes.
Later,
Joe
