That looks like a serious track car with that widebody.
What kind of front aero are you running with this wing?

This looks very good!

However, I don't believe this is a chassis mounted wing. The term it's self means that the wing is mounted to the chassis (aka box frame) of the vehicle. The Kognition wings mount to the trunks floor near the box frame and I believe this is how a proper wing should be setup. I'm not saying this will not be functional, but I would say this is more like a truck mounted wing. I'm also concerned that the rear fender will not be strong enough to hold this, unless you reinforced it. However, time will tell.

I was wondering what rear fend kit you are running?

What kind of wing?

It looks like an off the shelf APR. I think the mounts will be fine. If it was a Kognition, or DHP, and was being track regularly on high speed circuits, then I think it would be a problem.

APR GTC 500 with a wicker

Kendrick has had his kongnition wing on his STI for 2 years now mounted exactly like mine without a single problem. The paint is not even cracked. We have even stood on the wing and have had countless people hop on the car and sit on it.

I have tracked it a few times since i installed it and have had no problems. Granted straight line speeds have only been just shy of 100mph on the short straight we have at my local track.

We did weld some support to the skin from the underside to help prevent any side shift flex, but no it is not chassis mounted to the frame rails.

I appreciate all the concern, but i have looked at it for a while, done some simple level math and have local examples to compare to and i dont have any worries it will hold up just fine. Kendrick and I both have not had a single issue, not so much as the paint or bondo cracking which would show flex that would lead to fatigue. I think you guys under estimate the quality of the car around this area and the strength the sheet metal has with those bends in it, especially after that 1/4 rib was welded to it. For the front to pull up and fail, the rear 12inches down that rib would have to flex down, through those bends and into the tail light. That is ALOT of metal to flex

This is without a doubt better then a trunk mounted solution, granted may not be as good as straight to the frame rails but i would debate the difference being negligible in this case. The entire section of the body would have to flex to create potential energy via flex vs direct kinetic energy from the wing to the rail. If we are talking any deflection in the body it should be negligible and therefor an unnoticed amount of potential energy wasted into body flex instead of directly to the frame rails. Once again far better then a wing mounted to a trunk that moves around, flexes and lays on rubber. I am not fighting with you guys, just explaining my reasoning and happy i didnt have to cut up my car to get what should be similar results to frame rail mounting. We are building an all out track car as well and tha will have frame rail mounting because it can. This still needs to be a daily drivable car and resell-able/return to stock. Hacking up the rear of the car was not feasible IMO.

I dont expect there to ever be an issue with this mounting and i am not worried one bit until i see some kind of signs of stress on Kendrick's STI which a kognition wing mounted to the flimsy quality STI.

The car has a custom Cyber Evo like front on it and those rear quarters are hand made myself.

Obviously the concern is drag, something that an apr airfoil excels at. I can't open the cfd on my phone for apr, but at 100mph any angle I've run my kognition at creates less than 30 pounds of drag.

IF drag was to lead to an issue with my mounting then you would see APR wings ripping out of trunks all the time. They are mounted by the 2 oem bolt holes where your talking, what, half inch square surface area. Those nuts would be ripping clean out if its enough to rip apart the sheet metal to pull my wing off. Same goes for the 4 dinky bolts that mount the trunk to the hinge, where i have broke those tiny things clean off the thread before when tightening them down. I am not the least bit concerned about losing my wing compared to the standard mounting of the same APR wing to the trunk.

Mount a gopro facing the welds/mounting bracket and you can see if it pulling on it or not.....also may prove your point

The fender mounting is perfectly legit for this use and should not cause undue stress or damage the question I think most are asking is if you managed to brace the underside of that weld as insurance or just let it be. Either way its your car and nobody can say different but that's a really smart idea that is great for the budget.

No that it matters, but proof what i was talking about people sitting on the wing.
