ice racing in Northeast

if anyone is interested in doing some ice racing, there's an event at lake Algonquin in Wells NY this sunday 2/12. Audi will also have a winter driving school on saturday 2/11 at the same location.

tech inspection and safety gear is similar to autox or hpde, nothing special. it's wheel to wheel racing but if you have been solo for hpde, then i dont think you'll have any issues being safe. if you dont want to race but still want to drive on the track, they do 20/20 at lunch time, $20 for 20 minutes on track, you can take passengers with you.

90% of the cars in street legal class are subarus, i want to see more Evos out there.

I did this in Russia and it was an absolute blast! I'd be a bit scared to bring the evo but debating about coming out to watch. Not sure how far it is from NJ but will check it out now.

That looks like an autocross?

They make larger tracks depending on how many volunteers they get.

im more jealous you got to drive that rally car. feb 25/26 is in my calendar to go also. hope the ice is still around by then. they canceled the lake george event last month, and did it at a different lake. so far this year, only lake algonquin have decent ice to race on. they did a half day at Tupper lake two weeks ago. had to stop mid day because the ice was getting so bad from all the fishing holes.

hope to see you feb 25/26. i want a ride.
and you can school me the art of going sideway.

No studded tires if i remember right, so ill be on snow tires . That would be interesting with sudden power with 480 FT/LBS at the wheels. LOL

you can run in street class or menard class. street class have studded and non studded. but you have to be nokian studded snow tires. if you run home made studded tires, then you have to run in menard class. which your car can since it's full caged.

i run in street class non studded, with blizzak snow tires.

what studded tires do you have?

That's true. I don't drive my car in the snow so I don't have any snow tires.
