Since we were just testing this is on the lowest boost setting of 17psi and on old practice tyres so just cruising really.
We are racing at Pukekohe Park raceway which if any of you follow the aussie supercars youll know the track, but we are using the older layout which incorporates the old long back straight, a little annoying as our gear ratios are perfect for every track we race on except this straight. which they dont often use anymore. which results in sitting on the limiter 3/4 the way down the straight and having to roll out of the throttle which is annoying.
For the racing this weekend:
There will be a livestream link on this website: http://speedworksevents.co.nz/
Or alternatively theres an app you can download under the same name.
Theres currently 2 evos entered but a whole heap of other hotted up japanese cars along with v8s and gt3 spec cars etc. and 3 crawford daytona prototypes in the class above me. one which has a 1200hp twin turbo porsche motor in it.
If any of you are time attack fans Andy Duffin has entered his link ecu sponsored 20b rx7 also.

Also a quick hint for you all im only going to post here and something i got from one of the oldschool rally guys whos evo is on absolute rails. Run toe OUT in the rear We run 2mm toe out all round now and its transformed the way the car handles
Blew my motor in the first session on Sunday. Both temps spiked, and I lost oil pressure before I shut it off. I am guessing an oil or water pump failure as all the fluids stayed where they were supposed to be. So my new winter project is finding the best path forward. At least I have until April for the first Gridlife event of the season.

whhaat?? what was the build/specs on the motor? and what oil?
I remember you did not have oil-surge control? If so, it very easily could be related to that.
The good news is it stayed in one piece, so its rebuildable.
We feel your pain, and are sad to hear about it.
oil surge control had nothing to do with over heat of coolant and oil. even spun bearings dont change oil temp much by the time you shut it down.
if the oil pump failed, then i think it would spun bearings before temp spike that bad. it has to be water pump.
Sorry to hear Chris. Interested to see what you find when you pull it apart. If it's a pump you'll see an issue with it. If it's starvation you'll see it in the main bearings (at least I did). Definitely not a fun spot but you've got time on your side.
interesting weekend for us. We were P3 in practice. Then Quali ended up P4. We were on for a P2 according to the predictive lap timer on my last flying lap in quali and as i came out of the final turn the red flags came out due to a car broken down on track. pretty gutting but those things happen.
We also had the front splitter tear off due to the aero loading going down the back straight at 220kmh. i barely heard a thing and it got launched 50ft into the air by the rear wheels. the guy behind us said it went out and straight up in the sky n he drove under it and it came down way behind him. still perfectly in one piece just needs minor repairs. people ontop of the pit building on the other side of the track saw it flying through the air it was that high.
Guess this is a result of us working away on strengthening the whole front end up which is in turn actually making the aero apply the downforce to the car. we found the canards flexing so we stiffened them up. which then lead to the bumper being pushed into the front tyres at high speed. so we strengthened that up. which is now making the aero actually work and its shown us the next weakest point which is the splitter mountings.
Race 1 we started 4th and were up to P3 when the crown wheel in the transfer case let go on the 4th lap. So had to retire and put us out for the weekend as we all know how hard it is to pull a transfer case. I have a spare sitting there but will need to swap components over between the 2. Frustrating but thats how racing goes right!
Also want to look at putting in an electric water pump as a side project and being able to switch that on after we shut the car down to try control temps a little more once u come off track is it gets pretty hot.
