Bumper Cover Structure

I bought a used bumper cover to hack up for cooling ducts, tow point, etc...
What surprised me was how heavy the front bumper cover, structure, and mesh is.
19 lbs, vs just cover itself @ 6.

So how much stucture do I have to put back and is anyone using something lighter vs the metal mesh?
(or no mesh??). The mesh itself is probably not much, but both upper and lower meshes are connected to
decent size steel brackets.

Ya I dunno of anyone running anything but the plastic for years and years now on a track car. Save some weight where you need it most!

That's 5 lbs, but very stiff. I was going to use that and put stock wing back on for now.

Not sure when I'll get to a splitter and big wing. I have a lot to learn just driving before I get to that I think.

You could make one in alumalite that doesn't "stick out" anywhere, it simply bolts all over the bottom of that carbon lip and then straight back to the under brace mounting points. That'd help protect things too if the stock undertray is no more.
