Splitter mounting

So, I'm looking all over the front of my car for a place to mount professional awesomes quick release kit.
I also plan to use the two threaded openings where the OEM brace used to connect. The ones in board of the front control arms.
I also have no idea how I'm going to mount support rods.
Anyway, as for the quick release, would the m10 bolts that hold the ACD hard line in place be strong enough for the quick release mount?

Also, where are you guys running your support rods?

I swear I've seen pictures of an evo where someone used threaded rod or something to mount at the hard line bolt holes
I've been running the support rods to the stock front bumper bar with no issues. Ideally I would get something lighter to use there and throw the oem bar away but I'm lazy

So, I pulled my crash beam and think I can use the holes left to mount @ayoustin 's support rods mounts:
https://www.wunderladenracing.com/pr...ter-rod-mounts

From those holes, the rods will pass through the vents in front of my oil cooler and ACD pump. I have a whole threaded rod/turnbuckle setup that I ordered from McMaster Carr but am gonna order PA's rods to use instead.

Now. To figure out where to put those damned quick releases...

I haven't tried mounting our adjustable bracket to the crash bar bolt locations, but if you do I'd love to see some photos of it. I made those for use on the side of the frame rails, there are threaded holes on both sides kind of where the ACD pump mounts. One thing to note as I can't recall the diameter of the crash bar bolts but the rod brackets are sized for an M8 bolt.

A while ago I made some bolt on mounts for their quick releases that bolt up to the bottom of the core support but I wasn't totally happy with how they came out. Still figuring out what needs to change to make it work better.

On some customers' cars where there is no bolt on option possible I've put rivnuts on the inside of the frame rails and used their generic mounts. But even doing that would be tough on the evo because of how close the accessory drive gets to the frame rail on the passenger side.

Yes, I saw these areas. I guess I was just looking for something symmetrical LOL

I'm not outside to take a look right now, but where did the rods go through the bumper cover? Same place?
In your picture I see you having the quick release in the same place I was thinking, But the only option that I have currently are the M8 or n10 bolts that hold the ACD line. There's only one on each side, wasn't sure that would suffice.
Looking at a video on the PA FB page, It looks like they had their quick releases installed somewhere near the radiator support, but I can't figure out where in heck they put it.

They go through the bumper cover at the top of the main lower grille. Like this:

For quick releases I wouldn't use anything less than 2 M8 bolts per bracket. The one on their site was done by a customer and he welded brackets onto the core support for the quick releases.

that'll work for support rods. I'm thinking inserts into the lower rad support for these guys.

Timely thread. I just started my mounts, finally, on the splitter. Only the front two so far.
Alum bracket spaced out slightly with alum spacers to allow rod swivel mount, on pass side.

Made a custom steel mount that grabs all 3 factory holes in end of frame, for tow strap and has a 1/4 plate horizontal support.
Just drilled a hole through that, for drv's side swivel mount.

Goes through the edges of lower opening without any further bumper mods.
(not that I care, picked up front and rear bumpers to hack up, keep my stockers, stock)

The sides I may do 4 mounts (all straight down, two right off frame, a little inboard), as I can't do angles with oil cooler on one side and cold
air pickup/air cleaner will be on the other.

Yeah.. My car is mostly stock so I have stuff in the way, it seems.. compared to most of you guys. I'm gonna have to get creative. The splitter MUCH be easily detachable; no way I'm getting the car on the trailer with a splitter attached.

I hear you on that. My car trailer is rated 14K, so tires are huge at almost 31" tall (which makes deck real tall).
I already had to make a set of wood extension ramps for most of my cars. Not sure even with them, spliiter equipped EVO is going to make it up.

If not, I may end up getting one of those electric rams for the front, to angle trailer way up. One thing that might help you is what I do right now,
is put blocks under trailer jack and crank it all the way up as high as it will go. I leave it connected and it practically picks up my tow rig rear wheels off the ground.
It does angle the trailer "downhill" enough to really help out though.

I have a tilt trailer so raising the front no longer has an effect.

That doesn't sound good for me then, UGH!!

More food for thought on mounts.

Made some intermediate mounts just out of flat alum bar, with machined slot.
Figured the middle would be more of a pivot point in angle, so wouldn't need a lot of up down adjustment
(and these SS adj mounts setup are now $100 for each pair).

'
Welded 10mm to 12 mm bolts, back to back, to be able to use stock threaded holes in frame for side mounts.

Removed the bolts here and got high grade studs, to mount aft brackets.

Machined most of one of the legs off an alum angle piece, and machined a long slotted hole for for/aft adjustment.

Used a spacer to get rear of spliiter high enough for angle I wanted.

Let me know if you guys see any severe issue with what I have so far.

The only issue I see is that I need to learn to weld and machine stuff.
But, I'm kind of giving up on the car and selling it off anyway

Seems a lot are. I guess I'm 10-15 years late on just starting to track this car.
