OTC Event Updates
RRE's main involvement in all the EVOs at OTC surrounds the suspension and chassis. The guys can do motor mods as good as anyone else in the business, but to split hairs, it's not RRE that was sputtering. RRE's chassis and suspension laid down the fastest T3 time at Sears in Robi's car. Coil issues and running out of gas the day before made the EVO sputter.

. But, hey, the car can be repaired, or replaced, so there's always another tomorrow. Hope you stick with an Evo and continue to fly the flag for the rest of us wannabes
.
Thanks UFO for your support from the very beginning!
Yes, I'm mostly upset that I'm no longer in OTC. You're right about the hardware being replaceable. And it is great news both Elliott and I are able to go out to the track again in the future.
The EVO is my car of choice, no doubt about it. But things are not up to me at the moment as I'm not able to esentially purchase 2 EVOs.
Thanks to everyone that has visited the site and showed the support. It really means a lot to us who are out there!

yea i just wanted to thank everyone for there support also.....I'm sorry to hear Derek crashed and Robi may be out...at least the other half Doug in his NSX is still going...and hopefully he will win the event....this is our first year in the EVO and i love the car...but i've been having problems and the motor went for the second time.....and as of right now my dealer won't warranty it because they say all cars that have aftermarket clutches they will not warranty engine failures....new policy...started on Monday from corporate Mitsubishi....even though they cover my first engine failure with the aftermarket clutch....anyways...thanks all...Wayne
Just talked to Mueller at Buttonwillow.
The 1G DSM is back on the track after missing 2 days with the engine failure (bad injector) at Willow Springs.
Robi's car is getting a new motor at a dealership near Sears Point. They'll drive back to Sears Point after the motor is installed, and drive to BW for some laps. Hopefully to secure first place for T3.
Good luck to Robi!!

All I really care about is no loss of life. Good to hear you are in one piece. The car (as painfully expensive as it sounds) can be fixed. Good luck to Robi, if he makes it with the new engine. Big thumbs up to all the EVO teams that answered the call to the OTC Challenge.

This I don't get. All these companies (Subaru, Honda, Mazda, Mitsu) advertise these cars as cars to be used for exactly this kind of thing. Why would you screw your customers over on the warranty work? This is the same reason why I didn't shell out the $$$ for a new EVO (ok, well part of it was lack of AYC, which now supposedly will come with the MR). Just in general, dealerships and the car manufactureers seem to be going out of their way to NOT support their customers. It makes it almost pointless to even buy a new car, unless it REALLY moves you.
P.S. the 1G... is that the RRE red and black 1G (that "dissapeared" from their website) that they used to race, or is that another 1G?

I'll be posting all of the mods and "secrets" of the OTC EVO on the site over the next couple of days. Everything you'll need to know to make an EVO dominate every car out there under $60,000.
There were no "RRE cars" just RRE customers. Personally I think it is cooler to see a shop's customers do well than for the shop car to do well. Who cares if the shop can build one fast car. It is the customer cars that really matter...
Also, it was a lot more than just RRE doing the work. All of the car owners did a lot of the work on their cars. Robert Fuller made the aero stuff on his car for the most part, larger coolers and a bunch of small stuff, and the engine tuning was done by Dynoflash and/or Buschur Racing.
Not to mention all of the work put in by various SoCal DSM club members and SoCal EVO club members.
In competition things rarely go as planned, and the results for the OTC are awesome considering the circumstances!

Congrats to Robi, Matt Oursbourn, and Jean for their 1st place finish in '04 OTC T3. The class was by far the most competitive in all OTC classes this year, and they worked through all sorts of issues to get the win.
At the end of the event, nothing else matters except who was on the top spot on the podium! These guys deserved their win and really put on a winning effort!
More details on the site, of course.

That's very cool. RRE has always been good with it's customers, and it has carried over to the EVO guys as well.

Love the homemade front splitter on the 1G. I wonder how many tries it took before he got one that worked

Also can't wait to see the how-to post when you guys hash out all of your setups
