Mazda Rev It Up Competition
Mazda Rev It Up Competition
Just competed in the Maza Rev It Up competition yesterday. It was mad fun especially since it was my first time doing an Autocross. Now I definitely want to get into with my Ralliart. If anyone can tell me where I need to look for info on Auto Cross events in Florida I would appreciate it. Oh the Mazda 3's are tight they only modded them with Bosal Exhaust, Eibach Springs, and Falken Azenis Sport tires.
Try these three web sites for autocross events in Florida:

Here's a good guide for a novice autoXer, so you don't feel totally lost at your first event:

Don't expect that every autocross will be run identically; there is quite a bit of variation in how things are done. But for the most part, unless you're organizing the event, you don't have to worry about the minor differences.

I went to Mazda Rev it up in New York. I did really well, but a few weeks later some one from the Philly event knocked me out of my wild card spot. Then I drove to Atlanta the following weekend and a combination of the 12 hour drive (not much sleep) and an index time that had not been adjusted for a few hours (course was way slower when I ran), I didn't do that well. How many points did you guys end up with? The Philly index must have been easy on sunday, I think a lot of the top scores came from that day.

I like the fact they're doing the wildcards differently this year too, some people held onto them for a while, and the fact that the best from the other categories get something for being the best in their respective classes.
Going back to Cali...Cali...Cali
Keith,
Nice work, congratulations on the NY victory. Best of luck to you in Cali. How does the event in Cali work? I can't believe you were in first gear the whole time. Were you smacking the rev limiter a lot?

A lot is an understatement.
NY had what I call a long straight with a slight chicane along the back stretch... being in 2nd would have helped a bit back there... but I think being in 1st helped with the 2 tight turns near the finish... where 2nd would have just bogged. It's the tight stuff where you lose time for the most part in auto-x...
Cali is fun. Just pure fun. There's 2 days of driving.. saturday is fun and games with cars on the course... where they do things like relay, teams, etc... Sunday is eliminations going from 20 to 10. Then the 10 duke it out (Could be different this year.. dunno).
Fri night is a meet n' greet. Sat afternoon was kayaking in monterey bay followed by a cookout on the beach (mmm Margaritas) and volleyball.
Sunday was the competition and eveyone (mostly) left Sunday night.
It was a bit of fun!
