Kelly details on the guns you're selling? (Emails fine)

I'm looking at a taurus pt 745 pro (small .45 for concealed carry) but the p32 is a good pistol too.

There's a gun show this weekend and next weekend. It used to be the way to go but there is a lot of price dickery since BHO came into office.

Like Kelly said, there's a million choices.

Here's my thoughts (and I'm by no means an expert).

Figure out what you want. Do you want a big heavy weapon? Do you want something you can carry with you all the time? Does Lauren really want to carry something? Should it fit in her purse. You likely have different answers to those questions.

Another issue is ammo affordability. Lately there is a huge ammo shortage, so practice is becoming expensive (and you need and want to practice!).

My buddy has a full size Kimber 1911 .45 acp. Nice gun. Heavy. Very powerful. Expensive to shoot at the range!

I'm looking for something smaller so I can actually carry it. Something like the P32 (.32 ACP) Kelly's parents have. Or the P3AT (.380). Or the P11 (9mm). These are all under $300 weapons and small enough to carry every day if you wanted to.

The Ruger LCP is liked by a lot of people.

Now I am also looking at a "bigger" gun with more stopping power like a 1911 (which is basically just a design for a .45 ACP) or other .45 gun (like a Taurus PT145/PT745 [smaller version of the PT145]).

And then I want something that cheap to shoot for fun on the range (a .22lr like a Ruger MKII). $15 for 500 rounds of plinking fun is much better than $20/25 like with a .45. And not nearly as fatiguing either.

You'll also have to consider a gun safe (especially if you have kids or dumb friends). You want the gun to be accessible, but not out in the open. Something like a biometric safe is what I'm thinking.

The Garland public range is pretty decent, but it's busy as heck on the weekends.

$20 the first time out, $10 for the day and $10 for your membership. Then on it's $10 for all day. They have a pistol, rifle and shotgun range.

Garland won't be to far from the Coffee meet. Then again I am rarely going to turn down an oppurtunity to shoot.

Elm Fork, yes, but not many people spend more than an hour at a time anyways

Looks like you guys will have a fun time getting your CHL. I got mine last year and it took about 4-5 months to show up in the mail.
Just FYI if you are bringing your own gun and its a revolver then you will only be allowed to carry a revolver, however if you bring a semi-auto then you can carry either.
Kevin, and others, best advice when it comes to buying a gun is to shoot it first. Get the gun that feels the most comfortable to shoot and that your the most accurate with. If you cannot hit your target with your gun there is no point in carrying it. You cannot buy a gun for anyone else, let them shoot it and see if they can control it and if its right for them.
Here is a great thread to read that will answer many questions from what caliber, gun, holster and just about anything else you would want to know about concealed carry. http://concealedcarryforum.com/forum...?TOPIC_ID=4121
I would recommend that you stay away from the .32 cal round kal-tec. Sure the gun is small and easy to carry in just about any clothing, but the .32 lacks stopping power and shouldn't be carried. If your going to carry make sure what your carrying can actually inflict a fight stopping injury. Click Here edit: Just looked up the max muzzle energy of the .32 is 240J and .45 is 702J
I carry my H&K USP CT .45 its my baby and it goes every where I'm allowed to carry.
The range that I mostly shoot at is Alpine Shooting Range off I-20 and Mansfield HWY. They have everything from 5-50 yard pistol to a 100 yard rifle range. Oh ya its $10 for an all day pass. They also have skeet and trap but that's a bit more I think.
A picture of my new toy I picked up a few weeks ago at the gun show...

I went and caressed a couple guns at Academy on the way home today. Man the Taurus' are a lot nicer than I remember (and cheap!).

I also liked the feel of the P22 as a training gun since it's more like a "normal" semiauto...

Of course, Academy in Plano had absolutely no handgun ammo in stock

Ok guys, I've been wanting to get my CHL as well and saw this sign today when I was in Denton.

I thought I'd check it out, and I'm kinda glad I did. Imagine getting a CHL that is good in 31 states instead of just our 1.

I called bs but did a little digging. This is legit and only a 4hr class without any range time unless you want to squeeze a few for the hell of it at a local range.

Here are the links to check out, and the guy is located in Denton. Be sure to check out the FAQ link as it shows that a 4yr Texas CHL is going to roughly cost you $240 and the 5yr Utah CHL is going to be $165

Oh, check out Cabelas for some great deals on New & Used guns! The selection was awesome, and they were cheaper than at the FW Gun Show a few weeks ago.
