CHL Class Thread

OK, here's the info on the guy my business partner used:

DR Gilreath FFL
817-451-0359 OFFICE 817-896-6458 CELL
Kimberman@CHLTX.COM
http://CHLTX.COM Website
Texas DPS CHL Instructor NRA Certified Instructor
Kimber Master Dealer FFL Texas State Notary
From his site:
ONE STOP, 1 DAY, WE DO EVERYTHING REQUIRED BY DPS CLASS,
Strong Learning Big Screen Presentation, Fun, Focused TEXAS CHL class,
where you will learn the Law, not simple minded opinions, strong gun safety,
EXPERT marksmanship, concealment, Proper gun handling and manipulation,
sight picture, trigger control, where you may and may not carry legally, ballistics,
hollow point carry, Single, Double Action, safest weapons to carry, self defense,
and self protection, from a highly dedicated to the program
CERTIFIED TEXAS DPS CHL INSTRUCTOR, and USMC RANGE SAFETY OFFICER,
then this is the class for you to attend!
WE TEACH GUNS, GUN SAFETY, LAW,
AND DEAD ON MARKSMANSHIP!
TEXAS CONCEALED HANDGUN LICENSE
The class is $99 cash. You'll need (all can be rented/bought at the range):
- .32+ cal handgun ($9 to rent at the range apparently)
- 50 rounds of ammo
- ear protection
- eye protection

In addition to the class, you have to fill out a form and send $140 for your 5 year license (or less depending on your circumstances -- Vets are $70) to the Texas government (http://www.texasonline.state.tx.us/N...sp/welcome.jsp). This needs to be sent off PRIOR to the class.

He has lots of classes open and is a great instructor.

Not trying to knock his class, but I thought I remembered the class I was looking into was a lot cheaper. I thought I remember $100 includes everything including rental gun license etc. I will do my research and let you all know for sure.

I stand corrected. The class fee doesn't include the $140. I am in.

If you would come to meetings we'd have your input

We don't have to go through this guy. If we can find somewhere cheaper/better/closer/etc. then I'm all for it.

I don't *have* to get my CHL, but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it if you know what I'm sayin'.

I couldn't make it. Been working my *** off so I can pay for this clutch/Transfer case job.

I checked and it is $125 for the class at the other place. I am totally set on being instructed by a former USMC range officer.

as in Evo mods, depends on your use

I assume you both plan on just carrying, concealing, protecting and very little shooting...
this is what i have and talked my parents into...and now are selling cheap...mom's passed and dad's got too many
http://www.kel-tec-cnc.com/p32.htm
nothing is any good if its too much trouble to carry, too heavy to bother etc. These are the safest, lightest and slimmest made
mine is so convenient that I scare myself, forgetting that I have it as I walk the isles of restricted places, oops, I've said enough!!!!

oh, plan on using them for the course whether you buy em or not...
in fact, if anyone else needs a semi-auto let me know
everyone should take the course w/a semi (so you're licensed to carry either)

just talked to state CHL secretary...she said you can do this regis. on-line (especially if you want to use a credit card) or
SOME instructors may do it the day of the course...its up to them, but
to be safe, you can do it now and be covered for the course
on-line registration:
