10. denver - depending on two conditions 1) I get my head gasket and tune done 2) I can have my surgery the week I want to so I have enough recovery time.....

Kevin you up for rebuilding a diesel??

its turbo and has pistons how different can it be
my jetta is diesel so I have to learn some time
Hmm, yeah I guess on a $ basis, ECR is the better deal. Welp, I gotta bday coming up, maybe it's time for a full face and some seat time... hmm, and I just noticed that SCCA says that you have to have run 3 AX's before running it, is that 3 events *this year* or 3 events ever, to prevent rank beginners from showing up?
SCCA? Three Events?
Where are people seeing this?
OOOOOh now I see where this is:

I think 3 events ever is likely the criteria.

Ah nice find, thx Sean  I noticed it on the calendar page, it says right under the listing for the event
You must have run 3 autocross events before you run this event.
But yeah, that thread clarifies that it's a general experience requirement.
OK, another q, is ECR better/same/worse than MSR for DE newbs?

worse/different.
MSR is a learning track IMO. Lots of different turns to learn (which is good, because when you hit a new track, you actually have seen a turn like it and can use that experience) and decent run off in case you make a mistake.
ECR is setup as a race track. A few of the turns are very similar (one stretch on the back side is pretty technical though) and the runoff is still being worked on (the track is but a year or two old whereas MSR is older).
That said, there will be run groups so you won't have someone breathing down your neck and you'll be able to go at your own pace. Passing is limited to on straights with a point by and the straights are pretty long, so there's plenty of room to pass (compared to Harris Hill or MSR even). They'll have instructors in your car and others in your run group to make sure that you are learning.
