mountain biking?

Anyone else like mountain biking? I've been getting back on my bike recently and am looking forward to trying some of the single-tracks in the area.

I haven't been mountain biking in so long. I hear there are some really great trails in the Grapevine area. I spend most of my time on a road bike in Plano or Grapevine

The best trail in the area is northshore, in grapevine. Im thinking Im going to start stopping by there on my way home (about 430) and ride about 10 miles or so... you are welcome to join me. Denton has a few good ones also.

Also, http://www.dorba2.com/ has all the info on the trails around here. Unfortunately just about everything is closed right now..... but hopefully it will start drying out soon...

Thanks for that link! Maybe I'm going to have to look into a bike rack for the Evo since removing the wheels and trying to stuff the bike into the backseat is a PITA.

I recommend this bike rack for the evo. When Kevin and I used to bike a lot together we would use this rack on the evo no problem.... even one time we had a "spirited" drive with a camaro on the way home, and the rack held up with two bikes on the back :-)

Yes, thanks for the link, Denver. I've gotten back on my XC bike for the first time in years. I'm participating in the MS 150 this May, and really need to get some more time in the saddle between now and then...

Thanks for the rack recommendation! I'm going to see if I can find a used one. Hopefully it will work on the WRX too, but it looks to be fairly universal.

It is very universal....

You just missed it, I sold one for $60 beginning of last month....
if you get on craigslist you can find them regularly, they usually sell for about $55 to $65

just watch out for the rubber pads, its a PITA to get the rub marks off the paint. otherwise denvers right, worked great, we used it on his car, my car and other friends cars as well when we all went biking.

i double checked the straps every time i left though, with a highly sprung car, it tends to pull the straps loose.

and if anyone recommends the evo hitch with a hitch rack, i can already tell you it doesn't work tried that, it last about 5 miles before the hitch bent and the bikes were dragging on the ground. evo hitches aren't made for that torque/tongue weight.

Good news is we WON 8 - 2 and I had an amazing goal, and as an added bonus I get free week off work

picture from last night... it was twice that big this morning.....

Ouch! That doesn't look pleasant.

In other news, my boss thinks he has a decent bike carrier in his garage he is willing to just give me.
