Powdercoating Pics
I had talked to a couple of people last night about the parts I just had powdercoated and just wanted to post up some pics to give you an idea of the quality of work done at Specialized Performance coating in Arlington. The shop is in a strip mall and not super impressive (huge sign, glass cases ect), but their work is beyond reproach. They are super interested in doing more import work and their turn around is super quick (one day for IC piping, 2-3 for valve cover). Anyway, on with the pics. The piping used to be painted red, but I decided to change it to match the bronze on the left over vinyl and Volks.

$7.50 per ft of piping, less if the diameter is smaller. Valve covers are $60, I am going to have my track wheels coated and he quoted me $75 per wheel for a two stage color, less for a single, it is also a fairly large wheel and I wanted to have the entire wheel coated (including the portion covered by the tire, so other wheels may be less. The matte bronze above is a single stage.

The only bad part of powder coating the valve cover is it looks bad if you don't do a wire tuck which entails extending two wires. Not a huge deal, but still an added step.

I would install them, but I still have to install the AMS trans cooler and it is easier to fill the trans with the piping removed. I also think it will be easier to extend the two wires to the backside of the valve cover with it still off.
