New Member Check-In (Advice Needed!)

Hello Everyone!

My name is John and I just wanted to drop by and say hello. I'm not quite an official member yet since I don't own an Evo, but I am hoping to own one soon! Right now I currently drive an '09 MazdaSpeed3. It has all the supporting mods to run Cobb's Stg 2 map and it's a lot of fun...for now.

The only way I can get into an Evo is to use Don Herring's early loan termination program. I have only had my MS3 for about 1.5 years so I still owe quite a bit. I have been working with Jason Bell (Don Herring Irving) and, after looking at my loan info, said that they could get me out of my loan. Already it looks good. Though I am a little skeptical as to how they are going to deal with the neg. equity since their write-up reads as if they are just going to eat the neg equity with out rolling it over onto the new vehicle. You know what they say about something that's too good to be true...

I have researched the cost and model years and I have decided to look for a used 2005 Evo MR or an 06 Evo IX. I see that these cars can be had for about 22-24k and the miles are relatively low. My hope is to get one for 23k out the door. Hopefully this is realistic. Couple that price with my bank able to give me 3.99% and I am coming out ahead and saving money on my monthly car payment.

I have called all three locations and they don't have any 05-06 Evos on their lots. Is this typical? I have all three locations looking for them though so hopefully I can get something to look at this week! Let me know if anyone has ever used their loan termination program and how your experience was. I know that Don Herring is trusted within this community so I hope to have a similar experience. Also, I have read the "Buying an Evo" thread in the n00b section and it seems pretty standard. Let me know where I can research any other issues/tsb's on the 05-06 model years or just post it if you'd like. Any advice on pricing and the dealership is appreciated! Sorry for the long first post!

Cliffs:
-Want to sell MS3 with Don Herring's early loan termination program.
-Is the ELT too good to be true?
-05MR / 06 Evo IX for 23k out the door (Realistic price?)
-Thoughts on Don Herring dealerships and advice needed!

Sounds great man, welcome! Don is a great guy and I'm sure he'll do everything he can to get you into an Evo, he should be able to source you the exact used one you want too; seems like his dealership is a revolving door for clean used Evos

Good to know that my price point is realistic. I am pretty interested to see what they have to offer in terms of vehicles and service. I just hope that the early loan termination program is what I think it is!

My guess is how ever much you're upside down on the loan will just be rolled into your new financing through the dealership. Maybe they'll just add that amount to the purchase price of your new vehicle so you're not technically borrowing more than the car cost?

Nope no douchery going on here. I'm a little too old for that and I don't have that need to constantly prove myself to others.

I really need to clear up the terms of the program since to me this seems more and more like a traditional car loan, just re-worded and packaged differently.

Probably the best thing to do is just go to Don Herring Mitsu Irving and talk to Don directly (or the sales guys too I suppose) so that any confusion you may have is cleared up. Nothing better than hearing it straight from a person.

True. I'm trying to avoid the dealership right now since I need to see how the program truly works. Plus I don't want to fall in love with something that I can't have.

They are looking for an 06 Evo for me so I probably will end up visiting. I just like going in with as much info as possible so that I am properly "armed". But seeing how many good experiences people have had with Don Herring, I'm sure they are stand up guys.

Any preference on store location (Plano/Irving/Dallas)?

Irving location is your best bet, that's where Don Jr. actually works.

Really isn't me! I have a wife and three kids so definitely not!

Despite what I drive, I came for the Subie community (TXIC) originally so I know how to act.

My car is pretty stock looking but you'll know it's me when you see this...
