I couldn't find any threads on people actually dropping the motor out of the bottom. What is entailed in that? I know there's a longitudinal mount that will need to be removed, but I would also have to take out the suspension sub-frame correct?

nope suspension subframe stays in. you only have to take the transfercase out before you can drop it out the bottom (and we remove the turbo too, because we have punctured an AC condensor with it before, but it can be done with it still on). we leave the AC compressor and powersteering connected to their hoses and just push them out of the way when we lower the engine down.

when lifting it back in, you lift it up into the two side mounts and then disconnect the crane. done. there no tilting, removing of hood, bumper, nothing.
