It's out!
After working on it for a couple of weeks after work off and on, I finally got the engine pulled tonight. I left the transmission and transfer case attached.
I will do a full write up thread after the new block and turbo arrive. It will be about 6 more weeks, but this has honestly been a blast.
Forgive the photo quality. The girl friend was behind the camera.

Congrats Andrew! Great to see you one step closer to getting your Evo back up and running. You'll definitely have to take lots of pictures for us (or get your gf to take them).

I'm running the 4g64 block and yes my compression ratio will be in that range. And yes, it will work just fine. One of the most important aspects of this engine for me is between 1k-3k rpm because that is where anyone spends most of there time for a daily driver. I don't drag race at the track or anything like that, so quick torque delivery, and torque while out of boost were both very important while being able to deliver 600hp.

^I'm assuming you're reading all the 2.4L build threads that have been popping up. What fuel do you plan on running. Sounds like it will be a lot of fun! I wish I had the time to do my own.
I honestly haven't decided. It depends on how much more power I can make from E85 compared to 93 with 50/50 spray since I already have a Snow Performance kit installed on the car. I love the idea of the extra power on E85, but I hate the decrease in mileage, thin availability, and the amount of time it takes to switch between 93 and E85, up to a full tank.

Up here e85 is quite a bit cheaper, which pretty much offsets the decreased mileage. It is pretty rare though. I would literally have to drive 25+ miles in the wrong direction to fill up.
When I do run it (assuming it eventually gets closer to my house/work) I will definitely be dual mapping. For the time being I'll be sticking with pump + 50/50 as well.

It was a tight fit but didn't really have another way. I thought it was the usual way tbh. I don't see how I could have dropped it out of the bottom without a lift. I actually do need to hit you up Kevin as I will need dyno time to tune, or possibly have you tune it if I can't do it well enough.

). but seriously, taking it out and putting it back in from the bottom is WAAAAAAAAY easier. i would suggest it when you put it back in. i did it plenty of times in my driveway before i got the lift, you shouldn't have any problems either.as for dyno time, you wont be able to tune it yourself on the dyno, but i can either do power pulls for you, or tune it for you. if you don't want me to do it, my suggestion would be street tune it as much as you can, then i can give you power numbers when your happy with it. steve kan might let you tune it on his dyno... i would ask him if you really want to. (kan tuning in ft worth area).
