tune at EVODynamics
I ran 30-32 psi on a stock block Evo IX running E85 for over 30k miles. Never had a problem and I beat the hell out of it. I also ran conservative timing in order to keep cylinder pressures down. I think there are a lot of variables to be taken into account, but there are companies that follow the more boost less timing that have been tuning for quite awhile w/o blowing motors i.e GST and English racing. I also came from the Supra community and have seen a ton of Supras running huge boost on stock blocks w/o blowing the motor, again running more boost less timing.
I think it all boils down to tuning philosophy, there are guys in the Honda world, like t1 and Evans tuning who recommend less timing as well, you loose some low end torque, but avoid increased cylinder pressures that lifts heads or bends stock rods.
Any motor can let go, but I think if more people would be a little more conservative, motors in general would last longer. It's really ok to leave 20hp on the table if it means your motor will last thousands of miles instead of hundreds.
Also, I meant boost within reason, don't go run 45psi on pump or e85 with a stock block. Peek into the evo ix ecuflash or alternative fuel forums and read about all of the self tuners on e85 running 30psi+ on stock blocks without issues
