Twisted Root Burger Co.

I mentioned in a meet suggestion thread about how Twisted Root Burger Co. would make a good place. Since then, I've eaten in 3 of the ones in this area -- Richardson, Frisco and Fairview/Allen.

From those three, I figure the two best ones are the Frisco location and the Fairview/Allen one. Turns out, every location is set up differently than the next.

The one in Frisco is huge, has lots of parking available (2 multi-level garages) , and is located in a very nice area. It also has a decent-sized bar you can sit at, with plasmas all over.

The Fairview/Allen one is only a liitle smaller, has decent parking in the out-door mall and has an awesome "drive-in movie" vibe. Most of one wall is a giant movie screen. The main problem with this location, is the thing that's also cool about it -- the screen. At night (with no sunlight), I'm sure it's awesome. But during the day when the sun is pouring through windows, the screen is unwatchable. Meets in winter months would be cool here, but in the summer, during extended daylight hours, the food's all you get.

The Richardson location is smaller, and has no bar. It's kind of a hole-in the wall type of place, but in a nice neighborhood. Parking would be an issue, though, I think. There's a garage, but it's hard to tell if it's for residents of the apartment building nearby or businesses.

I may try out the other locations, but so far it appears that Frisco is the best one for most meet times, with Fairview/Allen being a nice change in winter months.

I did not know they opened one in Frisco. Man, now I am going to have to go there. The original one is off of SMU Blvd in Dallas. Pretty cool environment.

The Frisco location is at the Shops at Legacy. So, the parking garage is kind of behind the area where the shops are.

Parking at Legacy is an absolute nightmare; for a group of us I'd recommend we go elsewhere, but it's now your meet so go ahead and set it up wherever and whenever you like!

I've never had a problem parking there. (Granted I've only eaten there twice.) There are two large parking garages to choose from. Being that we'd likely all want to park together, all we'd have to do is go to the top since most folks don't want to park that high up. Park near one side and it might make a good photo op.

The next "3rd Tuesday" that I'm not working is August. I'm not sure about the rest. My schedule is...strange.

I would just like to chime in and say that I'm a little concerned parking at Legacy and Dallas North Tollway now. A friend of mine, a 350z Nismo owner which some of you met during that one Tuesday meet, was up there watching a Mavs playoff game and had his Nismo broken into. Busted out the window, took his radar detector, and messed up some stuff. I thought it was odd that his car was broken into because there's a TON of nicer cars that park there. Just bad luck on his part I guess.

Plan it for whenever you'd like, besides for the Shreveport cruise in August I'm done planning stuff for a while. Sounds like Tom wants to handle this month's 3rd Tuesday meet so you're welcome to take charge of August's.

It might not have been the car that attracted the thief as much as the goodies in plain sight...

There could be lots of factors, but the plain-sight goodies is a big one. He also could have parked fairly low (thieves are lazy); as well as the fact that it was during a major event where the thieves knew there'd be a lot of people.

That's one of the reasons I suggest parking on the top level. In my experience, most people go for the closest spots they can get. So many probably won't go to the top level unless it's their only option.

That and hiding the goodies is a good idea no matter where you park. Smashing a window is often too much risk if there's not a guaranteed payoff.
