Hey guys! I'm from Victoria TX, I'm looking at buying an Evo within the next 4 days. I found this Evo from Arlington, TX and was wondering If any of you knew who it belonged to and if you remember what shape it was in. I live over 6hrs south of Arlington and was just wanting to know if any of the locals had any information on the vehicle before I decide to drive that far to test drive it. damn that car looks good. Sounds to cheap to be true, if everything's legit I'd jump on it. Most of these small lots buy cars nationwide so don't be surprised if it's an out of state car.

 

Stay far away from this one! Looks like they did a cut-and-paste from the referenced vehicle that chef-j found. Haha. At least they took out the features that are not present on this car. That is just too cheap. But, you will probably get what you pay for.

Hey, I see you found NTEC. However, this isn't the car I saw in the other thread.

For starters, I was going to say that this dealer sucks because the car is actually an MR...but after looking at the pictures that Chef-J linked, it's actually a GSR. The exterior of the car suggests MR with the color matched hood and fender vents, plus the front bumper has chrome around it plus that gray part in front of the intercooler. All MR traits. On the inside though, you can definitely see the shifter stick, so congrats on the previous owner making it look like an MR.

Car looks fine, but my concern would be why the engine has a metal pipe leading from the LICP to the BOV because all stock cars have that as a rubber pipe. The fact that it says HKS on that coupler makes me wonder if perhaps this car was modded and put back to stock for selling reasons.

I also agree with Todd. I understand why the dealer copies and pastes, but that to me is a sign that they don't know anything about the car and probably aren't equipped to answer any questions you might have about it.

 

Thanks for the info guys! It did seem pretty fishy how low they were selling this one. I have my eye on a red one but I've always wanted WW. I noticed the HKS couplers and metal BOV piping. The front driver side lip has been chipped off. It seems like someone tried to return the vehicle to near stock. Don't think I'd spend 23k on this car anyway, in that case there are immaculate 9's with low miles for that price that would be better.

That car was sold. Did you get it? How's the wheels up close?

 

It was mine, I traded it in to Don Herring Irving and they sold it at Auction. The car was cursed from the begining, 4 minor (i.e. replace bumper or repaint bumber) hits from drunk drivers, Engine was leaking oil constantly from day one when I bought it. Rear diff. was leaking oil from day one. Transmission blew up at a couple hundred miles and had to be replaced. The car was modified and tuned by Cobb but was returned to almost stock. It has HKS BOV piping kit, AMS prototype downpipe, Spec Stage 3+ clutch, Walbro 255 fuel pump, and then the wheels of course which are pretty light. It also has Eibach springs. Transmission which Mitsubishi wouldnt warranty the work after repairing is starting to **** up again. I put all the MR trim on it. Good luck if you bought it, hopefully the curse will be lifted.

Ugh. Looks like you had yourself a lemon. Poor car I guess the price sounds about right.

Didn't get another Evo, I was driving from Frisco to Downtown for work everyday in the Evo and didnt want to keep putting useless miles on it. They had a used Mercedes E class at DH Irving, so I picked that up until I find something else I want. If Subaru releases the BRZ STI I'll most likely be crossing over to the dark side.

 

This, kids, is a lesson in why you don't buy a performance car without knowing the pedigree (receipts, owners, etc.).

 

DON'T WORRY GUYS! I didn't buy it lol! I've actually put a deposit on a Bone Stock Evo with 20,000 miles on it. Picking it up this weekend

I appreciate all the info yall were able to find on the vehicle. I wanted to go mostly stock but wanted to see if that deal was too good to be true.
