Exedy Clutch.

How long is the install process of a clutch?

I ask because I heard it was about 4 hours, but when my roommate looked it up on a system at his fathers shop it said 9 hours.

I also ask because I am trading in my Evo for an MR monday and need my Twin plate out or else the dealer will have a new twin plate with about 400 miles on it.

Anyone in MA or RI or close by that could do the clutch for me, I would go back to Pruven or something but it will cost a fortune and I don't have the money right now.

Thanks... In dire need of help.....
Tim...

Ok... the average clock time is what it "Should" take to do a clutch job.. 9 hours is about right depending on experience, but it could take alot longer if its never been done before by the mechanic... There are others who have done it, and have a system down for doing it in 2-5 hours..

Personally, I've done just about any job, there are two things I just don't/won't want to do, a clutch and a set of cams.. Just too much liability for me on that..

Typical dealership has the right "Strut tower support hoist" to support the engine from above when you remove the mounts and components to get the tranny off without having a cherry picker style engine hoist hovering over your car and preventing you from moving the car around a bit if necessary..

Finding a local mechanic in your area I can't help with.. I can just suggest you look around for a shop that has done these before, although its similar to the DSM's the procedures are alittle different and if your being charged "Clock rate" instead of a flat install price, you may end up paying double what it should cost.

Dumb suggestion: have the people who installed the Exedy remove it perhaps?

That was Pruven Performance and I doubt they will take it off for me tomorrow, especially at no charge.

try getting one of the mechanics at the dealership to do it, may cost you a couple hundred...But doing a clutch job in a rush wont work. With the help of a friend we pressed the job out in lil under 5 hours....

Since your getting rid of the evo anyways try doing it yourself, does it matter if you dont put it back together correctly...not really just have it towed back to the dealership when your picking up your MR
