man i remember when irwin was the HOT SPOT streetracing going down every week like all day everyday . but that kinda died down out that way a little. but they still have the car cruise every saturday in the spring/summer. mostly hotrods but i would like to see some of us east end guys promote the import representation out there. denny there are like 5 of us evo's in our hood we could get a nice little local following going out this way if we organize this **** a bit [STEELCITYRACING is looking for racers who is in?]

Sounds good Dan - I'll let you know. They usually go out there around 9:30-10.

I am in no way saying they are the fastest things in the world, but for FWD they are better than I expected. After running them, I can guarantee that if a stock Evo runs into one of the tuned ones on the street, they are not going to be the cakewalk that some may think. Again though, my point is that it's a fun time, they are cool guys, and are just as passionate about their cars as we are about ours which is what I like.

I'm in for the, let's call it "street fun" on here There are definately a lot of cars out our way if we can ever get everyone together. I can think of at least 7 Evos in our area, not to mention STi's, SRT, Cobalt, and Redlines!

As far as that car show - I used to go to it with my Cobra, and when my GTO is restored I'll take it, but to be honest (even as an Evo owner) that isn't really the place for us. I think a good idea might be to have one accross the street so that we are still there in case there is any "street fun" to be had.

so true man. i know they are fast and some of them will walk a stock or untuned bolt on evo. some of their trap speeds were impressive so on the freeway its not gonna be easy. and yeah racing is always fun i really cant get enough. i really dont care what they drive like i said STEELCITYRACING is looking for racers!!!!!!! i am a truly addicted streetracer i am 30yrs old and been doin this **** since i was sixteen racing down on 993 between trafford and irwin on the straits thru the cuts. raced it all almost from GM, mustangs, nissans, honda, now the mitsu i think i might actually keep the evo!! all were tuned except for the GM just a stock 4.3v6 s-10 that could beat up on 5.0's

Yeah 993 is a nice stretch, but you gotta be crazy to race a few of the other parts

Well let's definately get some runs in before I switch out to snow tires!

I guess I should have stayed out of this thread like I have been doing since all that is discussed is the difference in dynos and how no one shows up at meets.

Sorry denny i didn't mean to come off like a jerk off. Just saying we should get more people involved in the meets we have. And since you said these guys meet all the time, and assuming you talk to them often. I think it would be great if some of them would want to come and join us and hang out. I know i have extended this offer to the g35/350z, gto, mustang owners, and srt4 owners. However with that said it seems that not many in the pittsburgh area post. Or so it seems because of the lack there of.

next meet nov 4?

Steve

i hate to say it steve but most of the evo owner are not about $hit. they dont come to the meets they dont race they dont post what do they do its sad when u got about 10 guys on the list and 3 show up and we are talkin about 10 out of how many? alot more than that. i completely understood ur circumstance last week steve! but the others mostly single unmarried men really wtf? i dont think some of the "evo" owners understand how difficult it is being married with kids and staying involved in something like this , yet i am dedicated to the cause , i wanna see it expand but reality is that most give 2 $hits about the local culture. and in all honesty dont do $hit so i am about done with it goin thru the struggle to go to a meet that nobody comes to . remember STEELCITYRACING is looking for the enthusiast who is ready and willing to put in some streettime track time whatever just real racers who cant get enough of this stuff and is dedicated to the local scene somewhat. some like to look the part while others are the part!!!

i am always down for the track though.

Not a problem Steve, but I don't think you will have much continued success with the current meet setup. You might get lucky early in the spring after everyone's been cooped up all winter and want to get together, but as an on-going event it blows.

All of the following is MY OPINION on why the meet sucks...

1. Meeting for 1/2 hour and then heading inside for the night is not what I'm interested in.
2. If someone does decide to come but doesn't make it within that 1/2 hour and everyone is gone when they get there, they are not going to come back. It has happened already.
3. Traffic in and out of the Waterfront is enough to deter me from coming. Hell, the first meet I made it to was the first time I was willing to come down there at all. I wouldn't even take my wife down there the many times she wanted to go since it has been open to see what it is like just because of the traffic.
4. It was sooooooo disappointing to get there that night, be there for the obligatory 1/2 hour, be talking to someone about their car, only to have everyone else jump in theirs and take off.

Now as for other cars coming to the meet...

1. People need to be willing to be flexible on location. To expect anyone to show up at what is currently an Evo only meet at their usual meeting spot can be intimidating.
2. We (Evo owners) are perceived and CAN BE arrogant and cocky, so why would someone want to come to hang out with us?
3. If you really wanted to know about the other cars that are out there, you would be on other boards and talking to the local guys there as well as on here. It's much easier to get someone to meet you if you have had some sort of previous dialog! Hell, if nothing else, some of their War Stories posts are hilarious. (Yes Steve, I know you are a vendor on IWSTI.com and other places, but how many others have even bothered to see what else is out there?)
4. How many Evo owners have shown up at other car's meets? My guess is none since they don't even come to an Evo meet. I know showing up at an all Cobalt/Redline meet didn't give me a warm fuzzy, but I did it because they are into their cars and I wanted to see what they can do. I'll be honest, I probably know more about them and their cars than I know about any of the other local Evo's - so that's pretty pathetic! In fact, I have 6 phone numbers in my cell for non-Evo guys and have exactly 2 Evo guys.

The Evo is a great car, and I obviously love it because I bought it, but let's get real - there ARE other cars out there that are at least interesting. Maybe it's me that's screwed up, but I love cars...PERIOD. I have had 32 different cars in the last 8 years, so maybe that makes me a little more receptive to something different, I don't know. That in no way takes away from the pride I have in my car, or my belief that I have the exact car I want, so I don't see the harm or shame in hanging out with people that have different cars? Yes, there are some real a-holes out there, but most aren't.

Well somehow I got off to a real rant there, which I didn't want to do.

Mondo - No need for street fun if you don't want to...you are more sensible than I am and have more self-control! I just enjoy it too much...midnight on an empty stretch of highway next to another car - too much fun! The nice thing about going to meet these other cars is that they find places where you can hang out with everyone's car and also get to watch anyone that does want to run.

Now back to this thread's regularly scheduled programming... "So my dyno is better than your dyno"

These cars can beat on a stock EVO you say?

Let's find out. Count me in for a meet whenever.

I msut admit some of those Neons can be pretty peppy. As for an ION? Well, we'll just have to test that theory out.

Sure, I'll let you know. I know when I had the Dynoflash tune from when I went to Buschur those guys were no cake walk. They kept up fairly well. Now I did give them their advantage and always went from 40 mph, but that was to try to be nice to my car Again, the modded ones...stock - no problem.

The ION/Cobalts I've run beat the SRT's if that's your frame of reference.

My guess, its a trade in from one of their other dealerships. Trying to get people to at least stop and maybe look at a mustang.

Add me to the list whenever you guys want to meet up.

Even though I knew I was going to absolutely smoked it was fun doing some highway pulls with SteelCity last week. Hell, I was shocked how well my stock car held up.

That is not a surprise in a straight line those cobolts can be make fast with FACTORY upgrades(like 260bhp?)

Are you listening Mitsubishi!?

Just a few bolt ons. Is that so much to ask?
