Not sure about the pioneer unit, but I do have navi in my TSX and its accurate within 15 feet or so I'd guess. It even counts down the remaining feet until I have to make a turn.

Well in Boston it is really a crab shoot... No Nav is going to be perfect as exits change hourly not daily and streets become one ways one day and then two way traffic the next...
THAT is the BIG DIG for you... But out side of the City of Boston you will be golden the maps are spot on. Like the Guy "2GDSM" from MARYLAND (who aparrently thinks he is from the Northeast) mentioned it will be close within a couple yards ....

I am originally from NY and have made several trips to the boston area in recent months. I guess I didnt understand the question considering it asks for the accuracy of any nav system which is precisely the answer that I gave. Obviously, the maps are only updated roughly once per year via dvd or cd depending on the system so if boston changes that regularly then it wont have all of the streets correct.

since nav systems usually use maps from 3rd parties, find out which 3rd party provides maps for that particular system and what release year is the map. then u can look for reviews online about that map company to see how good they r. for example, my navman icn510 uses maps from Teleatlas, 2004, the nav system itself is released new for this year.

I would go with one of the new eclipse double din nav units that should be out any time now or the eclipse avn2454. The pioneer avic-n2 is nice but it does not play dvd's without an external dvd player and it's very hard to bypass the parking brake lockout. The eclipse units have dual disc drives so you don't have to swap discs all the time. Just my .02.

Oh sorry I thought you said avic d1. You could do double din in the evo but you would have to move a couple of things around.

I have the N1 and i love it....two weekends ago i took it from jersey to RI...then up to cape cod....a buddy gave me a random street in the back woods of the cape where his little cottage is and it brought me right to his front door.

It's fantastic

oh and also....my girlfriend and other friends in the back of the car were able to watch movie's while i was driving throughout the whole trip...which they loved.

i highly reccommend the unit as long as you're going to use it

how is the setup like for the N2? Is it one deck unit and everything connects to the back of the unit like gps antenna and audio outputs? Or does it need something else for it to work?
