Would there be any interest in a small race track in the Northeast?
After doing more and more research it would be VERY hard to make the operation even remotely profitable. Not even counting the initial purchase of land, track construction, office construction, the costs are VERY high. Insurance would be the real nail in the coffin.
It would cost so much for people to use the track it would negate the whole purpose of it.
The dream is still alive, but it looks like it's not in the cards now.

oh boy... I had this exact same thought myself a while back.
I talked to a few guys who have been in the industry for a while now. The two biggest issues have come up in this thread which are insurance and local approval. The track would have to be small enough to keep out the big dogs (big noise) or big enough to attract the big dogs and bring a lot of money to the town. You are (in some way) inconveniencing the town you are planning to build your track in... why do you think Lime Rock is in the middle of nowhere?
The interest is definitely there. The questions surround the logistics of it all.

There are plenty of small tracks in the middle of nowhere that are 5+ hour drives, this one was supposed to be one within an hour or so.
The plan is to build a real track, with turns. Not a drag strip like Epping. Drag strips cost big bucks to run, and there is usually one close to damn near every area.
lol yea i knew it was a track with turns haha but isent there a track near that area already ''walkins glen'' or somthing like that. im still down for a real track like that but id most likely go there just cause its closer but i deffiently hope you guys get one out up there.
There have been talk about a few tracks to be built in the area, but they have been at battle with the local residents. It is not an easy task to get a track approved. It would be awesome though, I am always traveling to get track time in.
if you can get a business loan for a couple million then i see it happening. Are you even remotely aware of the costs it takes for just insurance alone? I mean i dont know your financial status, you could be a billionaire, but it takes more then just some concrete and sign a paper and go race.
