Would there be any interest in a small race track in the Northeast?
Would there be any interest in a small race track in the Northeast?
I'm doing a feasability plan for an entrepreneurship course here at Suffolk University. The business that I'm thinking of starting is a small race track, about the size of SLMP (http://slmp.webhop.net/ for details if you're unfamiliar. We are actually in the process of making this track a reality, provided there is enough interest.
The idea would be to setup the track somewhere off of a major highway, and not so far away that it would be a hassle to get to from MA/NH/CT/ME. It would be open for most of the year (if not year round), and you could just show up, pay the entry fee, strap on a helmet, and flog on your car.
It's obviously not intended to be a replacement for a large track, but a place you can go to test out your car and have a good time for less money and hassle. No associations you have to be a part of (SCCA, NASA). You just show up and enjoy your car on a fun little track...
So, would anyone be interested in this?
If you have any suggestions/advice/concerns/criticisms, please post them!
Thanks!

Absolutely yes, problem is paying off the people that live near the proposed location. Paying off the the local gov. to ignore the pettioning locals. Paying off the lawyers and insuarance compainies and then still have enough $ to build a good facility and make it fun.
Sadly the days of pave a track and run what you brung are over.
Good luck though and if you pull it off I will go.

Sounds like a cool idea....
It may get a bit pricey to get insurance and to figure out liability for injury and personal property, you could always make them sign a waiver but there some certain things you can't put on a waiver, so on and so forth.

I could see alot of these popping up all over the place, with as many people out there that would pay 15-20 bucks to go out there for a day, I know on all my days off I would be there if it was in my area. Good luck starting one, ive had that thought of building one as well for many years, just dont have the means to do it, at least not yet!
