Worcester/Boston Social Thread
So what is everyone doing on Sunday the 24th? Apparently we are putting a car show together. I am going to be working on details in the next couple of days..so I'll keep you guys posted.
It's going to be tough considering it is only a couple weeks away..but we will see what happens.

i *might* buy it tom night after the meet in natick... although next weekend is a tax free weekend so i should wait
oh yeah... the other thing that is leaning me towards the macbook... the nvidia GPU in the pro has been having MAJOR issues... if the pro had an ati chip in it i'd def get it
EDIT: i really thnk im gunna get the white macbook for 1300 (1200 education discount). free ipod FTW! davids r u gunna get a touch or nano? i want a touch... but i might get and iphone and i wanna use it for the gym/running so i should get a nano lol
The trans takes 3 Qts and the front / rear diffs each take essentially 0.6 quarts. We did have extra left over from our purchase...i can check to see how much when I get home.
You'll want a measuring funnel with a shut off valve for the transmission fluid.... you fill it up, 1 quart at a time, and then open up the valve to drain the funnel, through a tube, right into the tranny. Simple stuff.
You'll want a tube-style fluid pump for the diff fluid. This looks like a caulk- or grease- gun but works much like an old-school water gun... you dip the hose-end into the diaqueen and suck some up...then you can put the hose end into the differential and pump it in until it comes back out the fill-hole.
You need the car to be level for this operation...you can verify that it's evenly raised up by placing a level on the frame rail... for my car we had the front on ramps and the back on a jack...or all the other cars we pull all 4 wheels on ramps...both methods worked fine.... 4 ramps was much easier.
All in all, it's an easy operation...just make sure the aluminum washers stay on teh drain/fill plugs and don't fall into your fluid catch pan...

+1 on the ramp method.

Maybe if you get it I can check it out...I wanted to check out the performance with Photoshop and/or Aperture2...
You sure about that? I seem to recall 2 50Gal jugs of water, a wheel/tire, a bucket of tar, and a handfull of tools in your trunk.....
You don't trust me, do you?!
As for the iPod... I'll be rocking a touch... i really dislike the new nano design (word is, they are going to back to a tall-skinny nano)... plus, with WiFi, you can make the Touch essentially an iPhone......

You don't trust me, do you?!i trusts you!!! im just a psycho!!!! hence why i have to buy a cloth air filter... i am incapable to correctly oiling a k&n filter due to me being a psycho lol. i overoiled it again the other day!!!! but i didnt put it in my car... just cleaned it again... gunna give it another shot tonight lol. this is why a torque wrench is my fav tool. snapping lugs FTL!

i think the performance between the mid grade macbook and base pro should be the same or really close. same memory, cpu. only diff is the gpu and screen size really that i can see and the hdd is slightly bigger in the pro. im unaware of how much photoshop actually uses the GPU if at all.

oh, buddy...that's not too good with the overoiling and such... i can help to show you how it should be done, if you'd like.
I was trying to find out how much the GPU is used for photoshop... i raised this exact point with a Mac rep who was pushing the Pro and he became quite stumped as well....
I figured that the GPU was used mostly for rendering in 3D... in the case of photoshop, isn't it only being used to populate the screen with a 2D map of color? I don't think it's doing any of the processing...but I could be wrong....
whoa wait, something from Adobe raping resources??!?!?! Shocker!
I would seriously consider the Pro for any sort of editing. The macbook is really a word processing, internet machine.
