i'll just stick a resistor on the rear o2 if its gonna be a hassle...

I am going to gregs tonight and was going to get it welded in. Let me know if you dont want me too.
i was such an industrious little kid.
you know what, don't bother. i'm gonna just take the rear o2 out of the equation entirely. well ask him when he can do it. if its by this weekend, then let him, cause i like that location. just in case anyone ever asks where the rear o2 is.
I don't understand the tuner not working with OTA broadcast...there is a menu setting for Cable vs. Antenna on mine...but on my other Panny, any time the power goes out or even fluctuates, it seems to lose that setting. Personally, that would really **** me off.
The HDMI/copyright thing perplexes me as HDMI is supposed to be the next best thing in copy protection...
I will ask my Dad to see if there are any firmware updates for that TV... panasonic releases them on SD cards, or for download onto an SD card...maybe there's a fix for your antenna issue?
I dunno if a line conditioner is the same as an isolation transformer.... and again, i dunno if you're just hearing the high-draw power supplies going to work...
You got the 60" or the 50"?
EDIT: My $500 offer still stands...you could tell your insurance company whatever story you like....
I am going to have him do it becuase like you said, it is a better location. Marshall do you have any o2 bung plugs?

Also, the problems you go on to describe- while being very nice "problems" to have- are not my fault.
They consistently rank at the top of the reviews for plasma displays.
But, if you want to sell yours...I got $500 with your name on it. Or, trade for 1 Kohler toilet (almond), Cast iron bath tub (currently in pieces, assemble your self), and stock Evo clutch line with timing system components.
Whaddaya say?

i do think my new roommate is going to cave soon and buy one. he chills at the apt waaay more than i do.
the tuner is in antenna mode- if it's in cable mode you can't tune to digital broadcast (25-1 as opposed to 25). it's really odd- the tuner just goes catatonic and if i had to guess, ignores the antenna. when it doesn't work, the behaviour of the tv is the same as having the antenna disconnected. if you unplug it and plug it back in, then it fixes it temporarily. very very odd.
one might say- hey cheapass- just get cable, but honestly, i don't watch enough tv to justify it. i just wish things would work as expected.
the line conditioner has a bunch of filters and stuff on it and i think it should isolate all devices. i'm not sure. maybe i'll look into that next.
it's the 50" th50pz85u i believe. i didn't see any firmware updates on their website and this is something that seemed to be present in earlier models as well. i could get a digital tuner and go that route, but again, it should just work. maybe i'll call tech support and see if they have anything useful to say.
electronic stuff > me. my computer **** the bed this morning too. all of a sudden, windows blue screens when you log in. amazing! and that's my media server so it's not like i corrputed it by watching **** and stuff too.

This has already been a bad spring for electronics for me...my computer's still not back to 100%....

Isolation transformers block transmission of DC signals from one circuit to the other, but allow AC signals to pass. They also block interference caused by ground loops. Isolation transformers with electrostatic shields are used for power supplies for sensitive equipment such as computers or laboratory instruments.
In electronics testing, troubleshooting and servicing, an isolation transformer is a 1:1 power transformer which is used as a safety precaution. Since the neutral wire of an outlet is directly connected to ground, grounded objects near the device under test (desk, lamp, concrete floor, oscilloscope ground lead, etc.) may be at a hazardous potential difference with respect to that device. By using an isolation transformer, the bonding is eliminated, and the shock hazard is entirely contained within the device.
Isolation transformers are commonly designed with careful attention to capacitive coupling between the two windings. This is necessary because excessive capacitance could also couple AC current from the primary to the secondary. A grounded shield is commonly interposed between the primary and the secondary. Any remaining capacitive coupling between the secondary and ground simply causes the secondary to become balanced about the ground potential.

Maybe u can try that? I may be able to borrow one from work for the weekend...just so you can try it for freeeeeeee
