Hey guys,
I'm having some sort of weird sticking situation with my throttle. I can't isolate it whether its the throttle body (throttle by wire on my car to an electronic throttle mechanism) or the wire itself getting snagged. But when the engine bay heats up the throttle gets stuck at 1100-1600 rpms until I shove my foot under the gas pedal to lift it up...

I searched around the lancer ralliart forums and have no luck with responses, and I'm not familar with the evo engine but yea. Has anyone heard of something like this happening before? F'in bugging the **** out of me cause I can litterally just let off the clutch without giving it gas to get into gear and its throwing off my driving completely.

This only occurs when the engine has been warmed up and its fairly hot out, I have tried lubing up the throttle cable on both the pedal and sensor side.

Any suggests are much appreciated.

Are you sure the "sensor side" is not simply the cable going from your cruise control module to the TB? In that case, I'd inspect the rest of the throttle cable as well as the cruise control module for the sticking...

Also, I guess if some sort of liquid gasket was used to seal your TB, it could now be leaking/gumming up the TB when it is hot out...

Or, if your ricer *** is running an intake- which I'm sure it is- you should investigate any dirt/oil on your TB...

That's awesome Dave. And ya, I am 99% sure it is not DBW. Your cable is expanding due to the heat. Should not happen once its cooler. You can adjust it if you want.

+1. Walmart sells a dry teflon lubricant...use that. It also works wonders in the winter if you spray your wheel wells (no snow/ice stickage).

Yes I have a ricer intake from RRM, Should I just remove the TB unit and throw some cleaner in there or can I clean it while its on the car?

I thought it was the cable because honestly if the car was hot and everything I could tug on the wire and it'll amp up the idle and stick there... I might just adjust it, but considering its never happened before until this year I didn't want to screw with the adjustments because i was afraid it was something else. I'll clean the TB and see if that helps.

Thanks guys!!

PaulsNSX whatcha got for ferrari stuff?

I tried spraying some cable lube made for bicycles (dry lube) up the cable but given the angle and positioning of the cable I can't get anything to go up it. You think it would be hard to remove it, I'm guessing I would have to readjust it after though.
