Tri state travelers

I just want to make sure you folks that will be traveling down the jersey shore during the summer are aware of a few things that changed as of 3-01-08.

1- If you're caught driving while talking on a cell phone(hand held), you can get pulled over and it is my understanding that the fines are pretty steep.

2- The speed limit on the Garden State Parkway from exits 100 thru exits 80 have been reduced to 55 mph.

BTW- I can't tell you how many accidents I have seen on the GSP, these past few months. Most of the time, you see cars wrapped around trees and body bags.

can't remember the town, but they are giving $250 tickets for talking, texting on the phone... plus a surcharge fee of $100 might as well just bend over when the officer comes up to your car

yeah some towns are getting rediculos with fines and NJ with surcharges. I just had a 2 point tickect reduced to an unsafe driving and on top of the fine there is a 250 dollar surcharge. so it was 439 for the stupid thing i should have kept the 2 points, i don't have any anyway

Thats no fun... takes makes the guessing game of how many accidents you'll see on the way to Belmar trickier.

I'm sure the cellphone deal will not really effect cellphone use for NJ fokes since we have thick skulls and the no one can touch me attitude. The speed reduction... yeah isn't that just a recomendation of how fast you should go... lol. You know just as well as I do that will not change anything except the ticket fines and the amount of radar run between those exits. I think it was just so the state could bring in more money since people were complaining about the Toll hikes, its their way to compensate.

Just how I see it living in NJ and driving those Highways often, and talking to my Trooper friends.

you have that backwards.. the ticket is 100 and the NJ state surcharge is 250.. but anyway around you can still just bend over.,.. lol.. and i dont even think that those charges include the KY when they bend you over... lol

Yea, Talking or texting on the cell carries some hefty fines depending your area. Though I agree because you reallly shouldnt be texting and driving.

Like what Jules (1wickedEvo) said, be careful guys. Extra Troopers between exits 100-80 'cuz of the new 55mph speed limit.
