new england evo meet
God did me and the Evo have a bad night tonight. 3 way close calls, each one got worse and worse. Full story tomorrow, but for now I will say this, had someone not been watching my back I wouldn't be going to the cruise next weekend.
Ugh, fnck hurricanes.
Ugh, fnck hurricanes.
uh oh... story???
+1. It was downpouring here yesterday but my Evo was sitting in my driveway the entire time. I drove my Evo home one day from DSG and it started downpouring and I couldnt even see and the highway was starting to get flooded or atleast the outside lanes were. The 45 min drive turned into a 2 hour drive home.
Alright, since this is pretty off topic I will at least try to make it somewhat entertaining, though during the event, it was anything but.
Last night the wife and I decided to go out with another couple we knew. We decided to take my car, AWD, good tires, good lights, the rain we were getting at the time didn't seem like a big deal. We were wrong.
The rain was damn heavy. I couldn't see 5 feet infront of me at times. Our first scare was on a two road with two lanes in each direction. A neon was next to me and we both went through a puddle that was so big it threw the water OVER the hood and windshield of both of our cars. We were both blind at the same time, I seriously don't know how we didn't drive into each other.
The next scare was a couple miles down the road there was a Y split with an island in the middle. As we were comming to the split I was trying to slow down to see it, I totally misread the road and ended up on the wrong side of the road as a minivan was comming down toward me. I don't know how I did it but I managed to to stay between the minivan and the curb. I don't know about the minivan driver but I damn near shat myself. Not an something I was to experience again.
The third and worst part of the night was about half a mile from there. We were going down the road, still nice and slow, maaaaybe 20 miles an hour, 25 tops. Going down a road I know and all of a sudden the front of the car DROPS a good foot or more and water proceedes to poor over the hood, windshield and roof. I knew I was in a huge puddle and knew I had to get out so I down shifted to 2nd fast and drove as hard as I could through. I managed to get up the hill on the other side of the "pond" and I thanked my lucky stars.
Well, aparently my lucky stars were unavailable last night because I went right back down another slope and back into more water, I knew I was screwed. I had to floor it through and I prayed out loud to get through it. Some how I managed to get the car started up the other side of the puddle but it died with the back tires half in the water.
To sum up what happened after I ended up getting pulled out of the water to another "hill" by a wrangler and then flat bedded out of the area by a tow truck. It took over two hours for all that to happen and for the car to dry off enough to actually turn over and then it took another hour or so of driving today for the engine to feel normal again. Thankfully.
I was sitting in my car last night thinking I killed it. Thinking my engine was toast and all my plans for and with the car were over already. I was beyond pissed. I was mad at myself. Mad at the rain. Mad at Worcester for its stupid fncking roads and not marking the road at all. I walked down the road in the pouring rain looking for any sort of sign that it was under severe construction. There was none.
Also, somewhere in that event my front plate was totally ripped off my bumper on the bracket and the little cover that goes over the left screw in the front of the bumper was knocked out to. So know my front bumper looks all messed up and I have to get new plates. I can't wait to get pulled over for not having a front plate.
Ugh. Really really realllllly crappy night. But today made it better. I got to hang out with Dave, Kate, Paul, Yvonne, Paul, Dex and Marshall and we got the Ralliart (well Dave and Paul did, I don't think I contributed much) lip on the car. Which looks great.
So today made up for last night. Getting the new clutch tomorrow will be great and the cruise next weekend will be awesome.
Sorry for the loooong as rant. Just a crappy night but the Evo is okay and so am I, thank God.
Ajay
Wow that sucks! Im never driving my Evo whens it pouring again. Especially around my area where every other street is under construction and they dont even lay down steel plates over huge trenches that they dig up but anyway you should post some pics on your Ralliart lip installed, did you have to remove the bumper to install it? Im tryin to find one but no luck so far and if I do find one I think im gonna wait till next year to install it so I can do it when I remove my bumper to replace my intercooler pipes.

ravspec is a vendor on here selling them to evom members for 300 shipped. go to the ventor exterior/interior for sale thread, there is an add there. its a knock off but looks great. will have pics from the cruise. car goes into DSG tomorrow for a clutch.
Ill get to see it at the cruise then, hopefully if I dont break anything this friday when I go up to NED if I decide to run the car for the 1st time. Thanks for telling me about that vendor. Ill have to check out the lip. Is it the same weave as the factory wing?
