Where would it be worth it to go for a tune in MA!!!

Ive been looking around for a couple of weeks now, I was going to go to shameless but he has recently stopped his tuning services. I just need a place who can do a reliable tune. I don't mind traveling outside of MA to NH, ME or CT. I guess Im really trying to avoid having to drive out to NY or NJ for a quality tune. If anyone has any insight I would love to hear your opinions...

Had a few bad experiences with tuning in Mass, as have others. If you only have basic mods go with a mail-in like AMS, Works, or Dynoflash. If you want the best or have a highly modified Evo then take the trip to Sean Ivey, its in NJ but worth the trip. I was there in early June for a few repairs and a Meth Tune. The car runs like a swiss watch A+++++. Going back shortly for a Big turbo install and new tune. http://www.iveytune.com/contact.htm

I'm thinking about maybe a mail order for now, so far I have basics like a turbo back, bc 272's, MBC and walbro fuel pump. Maybe I should wait til I get some more mods before I make the trip to Ivey. What would you guys do?

Well an intake is probably what a tune is most affected by, so at the minimum if you plan to get one, that would be most important (i think).

You don't need an intake if you are still on the stock turbo...it would just be for looks or sounds. Definitely an exhaust though! (if you don't have one...) And at least a lower intercooler pipe (stocker is very restrictive!) Your mods plus an exhaust & licp will make some good power!

Yeah, I have a turbo xs turbo back exhaust on my car already. I'm thinking of ordering the tactrix cable tonight and sticking with that until I decide to get an uicp and licp. I want to take the trip to Ivey, but i dont want the trip to be wasted when Ill probably need to go again after I get those things. So, has anyone had any more experience with any one company in particular for mails ins over another???

You're in Boston and you're considering a "mail-in tune"?!? DENT Sport Garage is right around the corner and is the best shop in MA, call them and make an appointment for your tune, the link to their website is in my signature below. DSG's Matt is a knowledgeable tuner with tons of experience tuning race cars and daily drivers. He tuned my IX MR and it's been running great for 26k miles now. I'm sure a lot of people on this forum will agree with me.
