Mass Clutch install

Hey guys im from dartmouth mass and ive been trying to look around for the best possible shop to work on my evo. Ive also been noticing that my clutch has been getting pretty soft lately hasnt started to slip yet but i want to see where i should go to get the clutch installed. Most other mods i can do myself. Im about an hour from boston so something within that range i would consider to be reasonable. I dont have many mods currently TBE/o2 housing/ported manifold and i dont think i plan on getting too crazy with mods. Should i get this combo from lancer shop ? http://www.lancershop.com/customer/p...57&cat=0&page=
ACT EVO Street Disc Clutch Kit + ACT Streelight Flywheel COMBO? its 800 which is kind of alot to me atleast is the flywheel really necessary or just smart to add? ive seen the stock clutch for around 200-300 on ebay but im just afraid that it wont last that long... Also if someone from the area has gotten a clutch installed how long did it normally take at where you went and what they charge you? thanks alot in advance guys

hey man,

you want a nice clutch to hold power better than stock? exedy stage 1 organic clutch. I can hook you up with a shop i know, should be able to get the whole set up including throw out bearing (150.00 from mitsu) and a lightweight flywheel for 900, probably less if you didn't want the braided steel clutch line. If you want more info send me a pm and I can make a call for you.

As for install, I am sending my car to Dent Sport Garage in Norwood, MA. Not far from Boston. They are good guys who know their stuff about Evos. The owner has a nice evo 2/3...forget which right now. But they have a pretty standard rate for clutch installs. I'm delivering my car monday morning and they said I can pick it up tuesday mid day. Not bad, huh?

Anyway, for ANY info shoot me a PM or IM me on aim, sonicbullit21. If I don't IM you back my phone number is there so gimmie a call.

Best of luck!
Ajay

This isnt something i plan on doing too soon more before the end of the year thats why i wanted to know about how much i am going to need to save. Is the exedy much better than the act to be worth 100 more? Ive noticed that the flywheels are costing 200/300+ is it really necessary to replace it? Or could whoever installs it machine it down a bit. Also any idea on a price for installation?

You should be able to resurface the flywheel unless you scarred it pretty badly...

Dartmouth? I live right in fairhaven, what color/year is your car? I've probably seen you around man.

Anyways, for where we are DSG is the closest and best spot. Its real easy to get to and they know their stuff. I got my car tuned there 2 years ago, real nice and down to earth guys. When I need mine done ill also be bringing my car there.

I own a shop in Westford. I can do the clutch install for you. I brought my evo to DSG to get tuned, and the turn out was bad. I would never bring my car there or recommend it to anyone. There are other members on here that have had bad experience with them. I had to bring my car to Ivey Tune to get it tuned right.

WTF is with the cheap shot. Congrats on the lifts, Must mean your shop really has it's chit together. I have a lift as well, in my garage. I take my car to Dentsport when it needs serious work.

BTW What kind of dyno do you have?

I hate being a dick but no need to outright bag another shop.

No i do not have a dyno and don't do tuning. I brought my car to DSG to get tuned 3 times and the car never ran right. There are also other member on here that have had problems with them. If you do some searching you will see. I am not trying to bag another shop i just don't want someone to have a bad experience like i did. My shop has been around since 1979. We do all types of automotive work.
