Mod Friendly Dealerships in NJ?

Thinking about doing some basic mods to the X...

COBB AP
COBB Intake or Filter panel (depending on what maps they release)
Cat-Back

So as you can see its not very much... and with the exception of the cat-back, everything is pretty reversible. But does anyone know of any "MOD" friendly dealerships in central NJ?

None that I know of. I bought my car at All-Star and they just told me it's up to the regional Mitsu rep if they want to deny a claim. Freehold Mitsu didn't seem much better when I asked them. Not sure about Brad Benson; they're right around the corner from my office, so I'll try to talk to them one of these days. I don't have any reason to go to a dealer anyway and if I need warranty work, god forbid, I just plan on returning to stock.

At 10 or 15k miles I'll probably ditch the warranty and get a tune. Just remember, dealers are hurting because of the economy, so they'll be trying even harder to deny warranty claims. Modding the car won't help your case.

No reason to go to the dealer? You do your own services? Wont the dealership not like to see proof of maintenance?

this is one of the stupidest post I read on this forum!!! If you buy the car and want to play you should be able to afford to fix it!!! its that simple!! dealers charge $100 a hour why bring it there anyway!.....but in any case I was in philly one weekend and had a light go on from a stupid sensor miss read and cherry hill mitsu was very kool ....cost me 100 bucks to have the car looked over and the light turned off but it put my mind at ease. they told me if the problem isn't a direct cause of your mods mitsu might help! but and IF you mod your car to the point you cook something like a piston because your some idiot that puts a large turbo and crazy upgrades OR over revs your motor cause your like 90% of the people on the site who don't know how to drive and thinks mitsu will replace you motor or trans! your smoking some thing!!!!!!!......

WELL...A guy I work with did what you said above, smoked his brand new 2008 GSR motor @ 3000 miles and he must have been smoking the right stuff cuz mitsu gave him a new motor no charge. And I know it was redline driving that thing. What you think isn't always the case.

But most dealers aren't mod friendly when something is broke and they have to fix it. So make it look stock if you take it in for anything.

The OP is asking which dealers in New Jersey are ok with mods. How does your incoherent rambling have anything to do with that?

Are u kidding? The tranny costs what like $15k? if you think that I wouldnt do everything in my power to make sure mitsu fixes it even if I modded then ur crazy. I don't have any mods but if and when I do I will try and make sure mitsu dont find out. If you want to play with the car and it goes boom then by all means try and get them to pay for it, if they wont then dont cry about it.

dude I don't care what kind of car it is or what company... no dealer will ever replace or fix your car that broke because of a result of your stupidity or you mod a car to the point your trans goes.....even if its $15k...grant it I'm not sayin I wouldn't try to get away with tellin the dealer otherwise and putting it all back to stock but some things you can't hide!! is what it is! and yes if you bought this car to play expect to spend some $$$$$$$ ..... never mind the fact that if you live in the north east or any where it snows, you had to go out and buy winter tires!! just the up keep on this car is big bucks!!

what I said has everything to do with this post ...dealers are just a voice for a big company that is going to look out for only them selves and look over every thing on a car to find a reason not to cover it!! to make money!! I've worked at dealers and still deal with them and have friends that still work at dealers....no dealer is mod friendly unless its parts are made by that company! they might make an exception if the mod didn't cause the problem....but you try winning that fight........ as far as the kid whos motor got replace......lucky him!

Not totally true, when I was in Pittsburgh, Baierl (pronounced beryl) Mitsubishi was the only dealership anybody took their cars to since the evo technician there was super friendly and got most warranty claims approved. I am not saying he got warranty approved for those who did not deserve it, but just made sure you were covered if it was really no fault of yours. I knew one of the evom members who blew his clutch and the first dealership he went to gave him $hit about him having a short throw shifter.Sure enough, he brought it to Baierl and was covered without any hassles since the cause was not the shifter. Believe it or not, there still are some good dealerships out there....

Mod friendly dealers? basic mods (air intake, exhaust) are fine. If I change the turbo, injectors, ic or ecu work; then the warrenty would be voided if I took it in for something. That is what I was told.

The problem with 'putting it back to stock'. Many have posted pics (good closeups of mods) on here and other sites, and in their signature there is a list of mods. You can be sure there are dealers frequenting this site that are documenting some of the mods of local people-so that when/if the car comes in to be worked on and it's in stock form-they will deny your claim and have pics to back it up.
