Mt. Ascutney hill climb review with Vid **
So this past weekend was the Mt. Ascutney Hill climb in Ascutney Vt. I would like to congratulate Alex Grabau from Dentsport Garage for getting FTD (fastest time of the day) in his Evo II resulting in him taking first place for the weekend. Unfortunately this hill climb was a little hectic and wasn't put together to well so we were only able to get three runs on Saturday and two on Sunday. Alex was only able to complete 2 runs on sat due to some mechanical issues and i was able to complete all three. At the end of the Saturday Alex was in second place for his class and 2nd over all with a time of 2:52, i was first in my class with a time of 2:58 and i 4th overall.
Wake up Sunday morning to a DOWN POUR, and was worried about if they would hold the event or not, Alex went to check it out, came back to the hotel said it was on and we grabbed our stuff and headed to the hill. The rain stopped and the road was still damp and slippery. My first run up was a 3:01 i was all over the road and it was much more damp then i thought it would be! Alex takes his run and slides of the road and hits a boulder in the Evo II and completely folds his rim, the body itself was in good shape the motor went untouched and we weren't sure about the axel/tire rod/ hub assembly but the wheel was gone, we figured hes out for the day, but i should have know better then to think he would give up that easy. So second run comes up I'm WOT and i miss a corner and slide of the road as well, my car goes untouched but I'm done for the day the Tires are SHOT. Alex ends up putting his car on jack stands swapping out his wheels with his BF GoodRich Slicks with our buddy's EVO X wheels with BF GoodRich G Force sports and gets to the starting line JUST BEFORE they decide to shut down for the day....he is virtually the last car on the hill. No practice runs and on regular street tires he was able to pull off a 2:49 on Sunday and take first place in both his class and overall.
Huge congrats to Alex for an awesome show, and Huge thanks to him for towing my car and unloading it and teching her while i was at work on Friday.

yeah for sure! i feel like its the best bang for your buck. you get excellent seat time of REAL driving. instead of weaving in and out of cones in a parking lot or running a quater mile. the best way to describe it is..... its everything youv always wanted to do on a back road only you know ur not going to get in trouble!
I live right in Ascutney on the back side of the mountain!
Where they do the hill climb in the state park is a really nice spot. I hiked biked and driven that hill many times.
Sorry i missed the even though. I haven't been there for a couple of years.
Congrats to you guys for those awesome times!

Yep. We will be there. My car is already in the Adirondacks. We will be up there to tweak the car. So it will be around half done, but at least we will have a good idea what we have to work with. i'm not sure my suspension will be there that time, thought.
We might ending up to test the exhaust - under armor- etc parts.
The goal is make the car ready for West Virginia.
So we see you there .
Its a great news DSG be there too.
They are great.
cheers Rob

sorry , the Hill climb Club doesn't let the car run with co-driver... First ever i heard the hill climb doesnt let rally cars run. I think the only one in the world.
They say they dont have a class for us...
We told them we dont even want to compete just test. They say the next event we can run, because they will vote on it the next meet, so ask them why not before this? He said because they have to sit down and talk about it. So we ask why dangerous? He said no! we had Rally car class before, but the rally car drivers stop coming... I wonder why...
So long story short we ending up testing on gravel and tarmac in the Adirondacks.
I hope we will have some pics and videos. Luckilly we got a lake and a lake house to stay in the weekend , so for me turned out to be perfect!
I think everything happens for a reason.
Sorry about the evt though, maybe next time we see you each other.
