Ticket for tinted windows with out of state plates??
Ticket for tinted windows with out of state plates??
I have CA plates and just moved back to MA, if I get pulled over can I get a ticket for tinted windows? I remember hearing something where since I have out of state plates they technically can't do it, does any know if this is true. Anywhere I can look to find out for sure? Thanks
Im pretty sure they COULD somehow ticket you if they wanted to.
Just make sure if you get pulled over have your driver side window down immediately and even the back one too, just to help show an officer that you have nothing to hide so they can see inside while walknig up. And if they ask if you have tints (if they dont notice it already), just say yes and dont offer any excuses and theyll likely let you go without ticketing.

Depends on how long ago you moved back..he could have given you a ticket for not changing your address too. NJ gives you like 30days to get your registration back to normal, if you dont they can issue you a variety of tickets.
yah MA has the 30 day rule as well. I'm waiting till I can get some more info on what will happen at the DMV with my CA tickets. I read MA is one of a handful of states that don't participate in the DMV file sharing program so if thats the case I will change it all over to MA. Just want to cover my bases before something happens. Thanks fellas
I actually talked to a cop that comes into my pizza shop about this subject and he said that you can't duck out of state tickets anymore. Apparently, they share the same database so it might be an issue for you when you try to get Mass plates. Idk where you read that info, but call your local DMV for info on that subject.
And 36% tint is legal in Massachusetts. Any thing else and the staties will break your chops. Happened on a tint day some of my friends had. He's got a black 3 series. He stood out like sore thumb.

CA law: front sides - 70% max / rear sides - any% / rear - any%
MA law: 35% all the way around
what if the cop knows your tinting is illegal in both states?

If we have a tint law here in oklahoma, they sure dont enforce it at all. My car has 5% on the sides and back and the whole windshield is done in 20%. And Ive had ever car I owned just like that for the last 10 years. Never had one ticket or even one cop say anything about it. Even the cop cars roll around with there windows blacked out. We also have no inspection or smog or anything at all here. We just tag them and drive them.
That dont even seem right to me, Why should they be able to ticket you for some state law they have, that other states dont have. Thats really BS if they can give you a ticket if your from another state just passing through.
