Nicely done Seth....

we need to get a (tenative) head count on who would probably show up, who would need lodging, and who would be willing to help set things up.

Well, aside from the fact that I'm currently in VA visiting some family, I'll show up.

I should preface that with a disclaimer on having free time as this is the first I've poked my head out on the forums in a bit due to work overload and being sorta sick of reading what so many others do with money I don't have. ;-)

Anyway, so long as it's not practically in Canada or anything, I can show up just about anywhere on a weekend.

OK here's th deal. I just got off the phone with the PAO (Public Affairs Officer) and the Air Show for next summer was cancelled due to a Scheduling conflict with the Angels. So there is not going ot be an Air Show here next summer.

I would still like to get a meet together up here and maybe a POKER RUN we could take 95 south to Portland then 495 through Lewiston to Augusta and then 95 back to Brunswick. I could get with the locals around here and see who would be willing to participate.

For those of you not familiar with poker run, it is not a race, but a cruz. you stop at different buisness and pick up a playing card. the one with the best hand back at the point of origin wins. Usually one of the buisness (or More) would donate and prize or all entries pay $5.00 and that is used for the prize.

I have arlready talked to a couiple of businesses and they are interested in helping with a meet and possibly setting up some booths.

any feedback or comments?

I think the poker run is a great idea, we can still do an overnight thing if folks want and line it up with one of Cumberland Motor Clubs Autocross' on Sunday.

We can make it more interesting for the people driving the furthest by making stops along the way in Mass, NH, etc. where they can get extra points and what not.

Let me know what you need me to do to help out if this is the way we go.

well first thing we need to get a good weekend, and rule out definate NO weekends like 13-15 may toronto super chevy show mught be a problem and Memorial Day week end is out cause Atlanic City is has got a show also. I would like to do it possibel the first week end in May or either of the last two in April.

I am currently getting a list of potential Stores/shops/dealers/and distributers to contact about poker stops and possible donations.

do we want to try to make a pot, say $5 bills per Car and best hand takes 1/2 and worst hand takes a 1/4 and we donate 1/4 to some worthy cause. we might be able to get more donations if we are using part of the funds as a donation. Since the Starting Point is Going to Naval Air Station Brunswick the Base might let us use their Land if we donated the Money to "The Sailors Relief Society" it is an organization that helps out Servicemen in times of need. they help fly sailors home during crisises like family deaths and funds for others types of emergencies.

we can pick another charity but it would get more community envolvement.

if any one knows of any businesses that i need to definately contact please let me know.

i know when i ran archery tournaments if the club donated money to a charity we got a bunch more "door prizes"

just some thoughts
