i simply don't understand this thread,
1) a
dealership is going to fine you with what right? they are not the police nor the government so i really can't understand that.
2) the best they can do would be to void your warrenty and thats about it.
3) why would you listen to your "momz" and not to your common sense? you should have known by now not to take a modified car to get warrenty done especially for the clutch that is a wearable item.
4) i know that this is internet board but when you talk like that nobody can understand you which means we can't help you. all that watz and momz and retarts and stuff is really confusing to me.
hope it works out for you

Dude, if your car is modified already, bring it to a shop to have the work done, not the dealer. You are only asking for trouble.
I think the dealer thinks you can be fined for no cat which is a state and federal violation. They do not have the authority to fine you themselves. Tell them to **** off. They are talking out their ***. I can't see the fine being 20K for not running a cat. Give me a break.

Sam, its Gil by the way. Im a NY state Emmissions and safety licensed inspector. In other words I inspect cars. Listen to me. Get your car out of that dealer ASAP. No dealer can fine you for anything, however they can call up DMV and have an inspector come down and they CAN fine you. The dealer themselves cant do anything. If your car does get a summons by a DMV inspector you can tell them that you had your car flatbedded from the racetrack this way, this being that racing is considered off-road so it is not illegal. I believe your car was towed anyway, right? You can say that the clutch failed at the track. At least the only thing you'll loose is the warranty and not get a fine. Its not $20k by the way. Good luck. You should've had the clutch installed by me.
I have no cat on my EVO and I take it to Mitsubishi dealership here in South Florida all the time to get it serviced. The service rep knows everything I've done to the car and trust me the things I've done, I probably voided my warranty within the 1st month of ownership. But he looks the other way...
