I just got a quote for work on my X and i think the prices are wayyyyyy out of line. Do you guys do a majority of the stuff yourself? Or do you go somewhere to get your things done locally? I could do it myself im sure its just i have no garage.

Full exhaust, downpipe back is about $750

Intercooler with piping is about $350

Install & wire gauges...2 gauges about $450-$550 (O2 pending install/welding
possible)

Wire muffler to switch for open/close $150-$200

intercooler and pipes are easy, exhaust is easy, downpipe is a pain. If it wasnt so damn cold out I would offer to help.

Wow, since John has done two sets of IC pipes, he's your man.
The down pipe, is it a one piece with o2 housing?? Then it's hard. If its just after the o2 housing, easy.

Gauges, all depends on how well you want it to look and or the install.

Those prices seem high, but remember they have a business to pay for. Electricity, workers, insurance etc.

I'm thinking the full exhaust is probably a little over-priced, but the downpipe is a PITA to get off, especially if you have a car that has driven through any of the previous 3 winters..

IC w/piping sounds about right considering you need to take the bumper off (I think?) .. but I'm guessing it shouldn't take them much more than 1.5 hours to do, so that would be a little high priced as well IMHO

I would say the gauge install cost is outrageously high.. even if you consider $150/hour for labor. It shouldn't take a shop longer than 1-2 hours tops to install both gauges (assuming the shop is competent).

I can't speak to the muffler

In the end it all comes down to whether or not you are willing to pay for the work, or wait until you can get the time/location to do it yourself .. or find someone cheaper.
